Justin Michael Valentine, 20

Justin Michael Valentine, 20, of East Petersburg, died Friday, March 31st, 2006 in the 1200 block of Long Lane Road in East Earl Township.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Richard S. and Anna Marie (Welshans) Valentine.  He graduated from Hempfield High School and Mount Joy Vo-tech with a Certificate in Sheet Metal Fabrication in 2003.  He was employed by Ames Construction for one year in the HVAC field.

Justin loved bowling.  He bowled four times a week on several leagues.  He bowled his first sanctioned 300 game on November 29, 2005 and his second on March 29, 2006.  He also had a 299 game on November 29, 2005.  In addition to his leagues, he bowled in Bowler’s Championship Series Tournaments (PJBT).  As a junior bowler, he bowled in the Junior Olympic Gold (JOG) program and also the Pennsylvania Junior Bowlers Tournaments.  He was instrumental in starting the after school bowling program at Hempfield High School which eventually led to the Hempfield High School Bowling Team.  He received numerous awards in his eleven years of bowling.

In addition to bowling, he spent six years as a competitive swimmer.  He began on the East Petersburg Swim Team and swam for the Lancaster YMCA, Five Star Aquatic Club in Lititz, and Trident at F&M in Lancaster.  He received numerous ribbons and medals for his achievements in swimming.

Justin looked forward to spending time fishing in Delaware and Ocean City, Maryland with his father and grandfather.  Other interests include shooting pool, darts, golf, video games, and he had a passion for cars.  He also enjoyed time with family and friends.

Justin will be lovingly missed by his Father and Mother, sister Tera Valentine, nieces Rylie and Olyvia, nephew Steven, paternal grandfather H. Richard Valentine, paternal grandmother Joan E. Hurdle, his girlfriend Jenny Gehman, and his dog Pippen as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He will leave us with a legacy of humor and kindness that will be in our hearts forever.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Justin’s Life Celebration at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, on Thursday evening, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor John Leisey.  Friends may pay their respects to the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Justin Valentine PJBT Scholarship Fund at PO Box 532, East Petersburg PA 17520.  This fund will enable a JOG qualifier to attend the annual Junior Olympic Gold event who otherwise may not be able to attend.
