Junior (Jack) Talton, 87

Junior (Jack) Talton, 87, of Lancaster, PA transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health.

Junior was born in Angier, NC the son of the late Liomus (Jack) and Joanna (Stokes) Talton. Junior was a sharecropper when he resided in North, Carolina for about fifteen years. In 1958 Junior packed his family up and made the journey to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After settling in Lancaster, PA he then started his working career in the construction field. Junior then moved on to Pennsylvania Malleable as a molder in the foundry. He worked there until the company went out of business. After his career ended he then proceeded a career at Buck’s Company in Quarryville. Junior retired from the Buck Company in 1993. He was a hardworking man who did his absolute best to provide for his family, often working two jobs.

Junior was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Lancaster. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the Atlanta Braves. He and his brother-in-law Lee Stokes (Bud) always got together to watch or attend games. On Christmas Junior loved to hand out silver dollars or two dollars bills to his grandchildren and some great-grandchildren. Junior enjoyed gardening in his leisure time. He was always sporting a hat or cap. He always looked forward to attending annual family reunions, where many fond memories were created.

Junior, a loving husband and devoted father is survived by his wife, Annie Lou Talton of Lancaster; six children: Ernest Talton, his beloved wife Lorianne Talton (5 children), Dorothy Talton (5 children), Lois Morant, her beloved husband Samuel Morant (4 children), Lee Talton married to Ruby (3 children), Hazel Morant married to Abraham Morant (3 children) and Judith (Judy); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildern. In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his siblings: Harold (Bill) Talton, Curtis Talton, Mack Talton, Florine Talton and Robert Talton.

Junior lived a good a good life. He will truly be missed by everyone who was blessed by his infectious caring heart.

Home Going Services will be held at 12:30PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N. Lime Street, Lancaster, PA 17602, with the Reverend Roland Forbes officiating. Friends and family will be received from 11:30AM to 12:30PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
