Joyce Eileen Clark, 91
May 10, 2024
Joyce Eileen Clark, age 91, passed away at home on May 10, 2024. Joyce was born on August 9, 1932 in Altoona, PA, the daughter of Ebert A. and Sarah J. Parson, and lived most of her life in Manheim Township, Lancaster, PA. She married the love of her life, Richard “Dean” Clark, on July 28, 1949.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Manheim Township Schools and as a sales associate at the former Bon Ton Department store. However, she will be remembered most and forever as Meme, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren. No treat was denied them in her presence, especially not root beer float pops, ice cream for breakfast, or green Jello. They loved to “camp” on the floor in her room, spend summers at Rehoboth beach with her, and will forever wonder what tune it was she was always humming to herself.
She was the eldest of 6 Parson children, including brothers (Don, Jerry, Phil, and George) and sister (Lois). She was often given the responsibility of supervising her raucous siblings. She handled them well and developed a strong appreciation for the value of strong family relationships. She passed these values on to 5 children: Richard Jr. (Donna) of Manchester, MI; Linda Borthwick (Ron) of Ocean View, DE; Pamela Vettleson (Wayne) of Quilcene, WA; Kimberly Zerphy (Tom) of Lititz, PA; and Kerri Pittman (Ray) of Lancaster, as well as to her 8 grandchildren: Patrick, Andrea, Ron, Lee, Melissa, Steve, Scott, and Stephanie; and 17 great-grandchildren. Even with this vast legacy our matriarch never forgot a birthday.
She was preceded in death by Dean, her husband for 62 years, her Mother and Father, 4 brothers, daughter Pam, grandson Scott, and great-grandson Easton. We hope her and Dean are dancing together again in a better place surrounded by those we love and miss.
Friends will be received from 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday May 19th at Charles F Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA 17543. The service will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM and interment will be on Monday, May 20th at 10:00 AM at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery. Gifts in her name could be contributed to PanCan Action Network or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.

Linda, Rick, Kim, Kerri, and family,
Sending you peace and love to surround you during this difficult time. I’ll never forget Aunt Joyce as my dad’s big sister—strong, kind, independent, and in control. I so appreciate her role growing up in the Parson family. Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever, Amber
