Josephine “Josie” R. Vellucci, 92
July 22, 1931 - March 08, 2024
Josephine R. Vellucci, 92, of Millersville, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born in Naples, Italy on July 22, 1931, to the late Melchiorre and Anna (Cavuoto) Conti. She came to the U.S. in 1948 with her four sisters and two of them remained. Josie was married to the love of her life, Richard, for 69 years, before he passed away in 2022. Josie and Richard relocated from Needham, MA, to Millersville in 1961.
While raising her family, she worked as a hair stylist for several years. An avid cook, she made everything from scratch. Her sons remember waking up daily to the aroma of her incredible sauce for that night’s dinner.
Josie picked up golf later in life and became very determined and competitive. She won the Ladies Club Championship at Conestoga Country Club in 1988 and 1989. She was also competitive at playing Bridge.
An avid parishioner at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Josie enjoyed sharing her talents as a church greeter.
Josie is survived by her sons, Richard Vellucci (Karen) of Advance, NC, and Ronald Vellucci (Karen) of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren, Amanda (Carey), Matthew (Jessica), Ashley (Tyler), and Grant (Christy); and four great-grandchildren, Corbin, Avery, Savannah, and Brooke.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, daughter, Judith Ann (twin sister of Ronald), and her daughter Michelle. Josie was the last of her remaining seven siblings.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff and community of St. Anne’s Retirement Community as Josie spent the last five years as a resident.
Josie’s family will receive guests from 10 to 11 am, followed by a Christian Prayer Service at 11 am with The Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. Private interment in St, Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

We were neighbors on Manor View Drive for many years. She was so welcoming when we first moved in. She even cut my hair during her career as a hair stylist. The last time I saw her she and Richard were sitting in the waiting room at Hartz Physical Therapy waiting for her PT appt. We were both surprised to see each other. She was a super good person! Jim and I extend our sincere condolences to her family.

She was best. I remember her and your dad and sister from CCC in 1975 or so. So sorry for you. Jeff
