Joseph Z. Zaranka, 85

Joseph Z. Zaranka, age 85 years, of 3026 Mt. Hope Home Rd., Manheim, passed away peacefully Monday, November 23, 2015 at Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. Joe was born in Girardville on March 27, 1930, a son of Gertrude (Perchasuta) Zaranka and Zan Zaranka and was the husband of June (Hadesty) Zaranka with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 8, 2015.
He was a 1948 graduate of Girardville H.S. and retired from Alumax in the Mechanical & outside Maintenance Dept.
Joe was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church for 20 years and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in N. Myrtle Beach, SC for 20 years.
Joe was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion Post #34, V.F.W. Post #1690, and the Dutchland Polkateers in Ephrata.
He served in the U.S. Navy after WWII as a Fireman 1st class in the Destroyer Duty.
In addition to his loving wife June, he is survived by four daughters, Christine J. Texter wife of Joe, Sandra Zaranka both of Lititz, Jo Lynn Friedel of Manchester, Nancy K. Sensenig wife of Michael of Ephrata; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Albert and sister, Regina.
The family would like to thank the staff of the York Visiting Angels, Dallastown Victorian Villa, Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community and Hospice & Community Care for their exceptional care given to Joe during his illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a service celebrating Joe’s life at 2PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, 3026 Mt. Hope Home Rd, Manheim, PA 17545.
