Joseph R. Caterbone, 79
Joseph R. Caterbone, 79, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Lancaster, Joe was the son of the late Samuel J. and Mary E. (Lombardo) Caterbone. He was married to Mildred J. (Reikard) Caterbone for fifty-nine years.
Joe was employed by RCA Corporation for thirty-five years as foreman of the stationary stores dept, before retiring in 1987.
Joe served in the US Army during World War II as Tec 5th grade (sergeant), stationed in Hawaii.
He attended Lancaster Catholic High School.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Joe was an active volunteer at the church. He was a Third Degree Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #867, Lancaster.
Joe enjoyed bowling, golf, gardening, and loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Joseph R. Caterbone, Jr., husband of Sandy L., of Conshohocken, PA, Cynthia L. Rohrer, wife of Richard E., of Lancaster, and Christine M. Heinley of Lancaster, six grandchildren, thirteen greatgrandchildren, one greatgranddaughter, and sister, Mary Ann Mahler, wife of James, of Lancaster. Joseph was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dayna, brother, Samuel, and sister, Helen Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as Celebrant. Family will receive guests from 10 until 11 AM at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
