John Ronald “Ron” Scifers, Sr., 93

John Ronald “Ron” Scifers, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on May 31, 2025. Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Emma (Lackey) Scifers. He was raised by his late grandparents, Colonel and Zelma Lackey. He was married 67 years to Vivian Claire (Reuter) Scifers, prior to her passing.

Ron graduated from Brown High School in Atlanta. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served proudly and honorably from 1950-1955. After his discharge he attended the University of Maryland where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Ron spent his entire working career at Alcoa in various production and managerial roles.

After retiring, Ron enjoyed his true passion for golf. He spent countless hours on Overlook Golf Course and volunteered there for many years. He and Vivian were snowbirds and loved being able to enjoy the Vero Beach weather and golf course at their condo. Ron will be affectionately remembered for his commitment and dedication to anything he did, strong work ethic, and meticulous mind.

Ron is survived by his 2 sons: Ron Scifers, Jr. (Lori) and James Scifers (Elizabeth); 5 grandchildren: Jacob, John III (Annalisa), Jonathan, Lindsay, and Katherine; 3 great-grandchildren: Theodore, Oakleigh, and Julianna; and cousin Yvette Coursey.

A memorial service to honor and remember Ron will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:15 AM. Interment with military honors will be held at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery immediately following.
