My most sincerest sympathy,  I rode with John and he helpeyme get sober.  I wasa Charter Member of BOA whwit wss still in the  basement clubhouse.  John always ttreated me like a man even though I was a kid.  I remember us all going for or licenses and john congratulated me when I  passed even though I  road the Automatic transmission loaner that day because my  tread didn’t pass inspection.  He teased me about not getting a speeding ticket during the road test.  Later he was the one who gave me my club name “Crash”  because I  dumped my Honda Nighthawk all over Lancaster County.  Rest in Peace John,  you were a great man & a awesome mentor to me.  Brian M.  aka Crash.  If any club members read this, II’d love to hear how the clubs doing.  I  miss myBOAmc family!  My email is therealshalamar at yahoo dot com.  God bless, keep it vertical!

As many people have said John was a fun-loving guy. I will always remember how sure he was of having stolen a motorcycle in London after a surgery he had many years ago when Michael Sweater and I went to see him. He said after he got home and was no longer under the influence of anesthesia he actually went into his garage expecting to see the motorcycle he "thought" he had stolen. John also used to laugh about the different meals my wife Debbie would cook referring to some of them being "summer" or "winter" meals. He also used to laugh about how I would complain about the snow when I worked out of my house.
Never knew John was a motorcycle cop or a barber. Did know he loved motorcycles and am only sorry that I didn’t get back into motorcycles until after my wife and I moved out of Lancaster to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina as I am sure he would have been alot of fun to "ride" with.
At the end of the day John brought a great deal more to the table of life than he took which to me is the essence of recovery.
I wish John Godspeed his family God’s continued blessings.

Lois and Family
In this time of loss to your family, I hope that all John has done and gave in his life carries you through this time. His outlook always made me smile and in some cases helped me through my tough times. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten what he gave back to all his family and friends he made along the way. I met John 16 years ago and he helped keep me sober, and we had lots of fun serving God and our fellow man. I’m sure he will be having fun until I get to see my friend again.
God bless you and your family

Dear Lois and Family,
You and your family are being prayed over.  If ever I was certain that someone was in Heaven, I am certain that John is there.  I will never forget my dear friend, "Mr. President."
Love,

Too bad Ronnie, as he was known to all his classmates at Perry High, passed away before we were able to send him flowers. We missed you both at our PHS Alumni banquet in May and had no idea we’d never see him again . He certainly was an asset to the class of 54…always full of fun. We’ll miss him a lot but not nearly as much as you will I’m sure.  In lieu of the flowers we were hoping to send him, our class will make a contribution to Gate House for Men in John’s name.
With sincere sympathy,
Dorothy Hess Moser

My sincere sympathy to your whole family.  Even tho I have not seen
John in a long time, I will miss him.

Lois & family –  I was very sorry to hear of John’s passing.  I know my father Les Stohler thought of John as a dear friend and wonderful person.  I, personally, remember that John could always make any one laugh and feel better.  I am glad that John could spend the last years of his life in sobriety and I know that he was very proud of being able to do that.  It was very comforting to have John come to see dad in his last days and also to come to his funeral.  I regret not being able to come and pay my respects, but I only heard of his passing today and have other obligations for the night of the viewing.  I just want to pass on my condolences to you and wish you the best.
Connie (Stohler) Ondrejicka

My sincere condolences to you all, John and his humor will be missed by everyone. His sobriety was an example to a whole community of people in and out of recovery. I’ll never forget our conversations on how much we enjoyed being sober.
