In my retirement I worked part time for John at Wicker Imports delivering furniture and cushions. We shared a mutual respect and John made me feel more like a friend than an employee.  I admired him for his kindness, fairness and generosity.  He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.  My heartfelt condolences to Mel and family.

Heartfelt sympathy to the entire Dorofee family. I played so many games of baseball with John & “Rusty” all through grade school. He was a wonderful person and I was so blessed to know him. Continual prayers will be offered for his beautiful soul and always caring family.

I only knew John from Wicker Imports. That has to go back to when he first started. I bought the best set I still have today, changng out the cushions with him over the years.  He always helped me so kindly. I stopped in often. He was the best. He surely will be missed.

JD was my big brother at Sigma Pi fraternity. To say that I had always looked up to him was an understatement. What I will always remember about John was his incredible sense of humor.

Dearest Melanie and Halina,Please know that our family’s thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. John was a bright soul, his love for you both was obvious. The twinkle in his eyes and that great smile all topped off with his too early silvery white hair are what make me smile when I think about him and his kindness and love for others, including us (Greg and Patty) and the girls (Carlyn and Bailey), is what made him so unforgettable to all that got to experience him. I have such wonderful memories of you all. Please know that you are being held up in prayer and meditation and that he will be missed so much by so many.
I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend but hopefully Greg and Carlyn will get to pass on a big hug from Minnesota for Bailey and I.

Love,
Patty Engelking (Frye)
