Condolences to the Family

August 03, 2016

My condolances to the Votano family. I only knew John the last 15 years but he was a great guy and a good friend. Although i talked to him frequently, the last time i actually saw him was when i had him and the younger kids tubing on my boat at Raystown. He was quite the character and I will certainly miss him.

My deepest sympathy to John’s family.  I have known John for so many years, he was a part of my family.  I will always remember your jokes and stories.  You are in complete control of the ship Captain.  John always brought a smile to every one’s face, he could take a really bad day and turn it around to make you happy.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.  Will see you again Captain.  With love and respect, Terrie Ash.

John,
Where shall i start? Back in the good ole days of dispatch when id turn over to you at the end of the day and we’d goof off over the phone. Little did we know we’d all be squished in that tiny dispatch room together and then relocated around the building a dozen times and finally evicted out of Lebanon and into our own Regional Support Center, which has also taken on a dozen or more faces since its opening. But we were together for the ride, your extrodinary stories continued. Your laugh was contagious too. Ill never forget our debut at the Christmas Party when you, me, Laura, Tina, Wes, Tammy with the help of Bills band Para-Dice we sang Margaritaville! There have been so many great times and great memories i could go on and on. But ill end with this you touched my children and my life in so many ways and we love you so much and will always keep you in our hearts. R.I.P. John
p.s. im still trying to find someone to eat all the extra food lol

I first met John over 20 years ago when I started at Comcast (it was BerksCable back then) and he always seemed larger than life.  He had a great smile, a great laugh and he always picked you up when you were feeling down.  I used to bring in chocolate covered macadamia nuts for Christmas that my mom sent me from back home and I always snuck him an extra box.  Even though I hadn’t seen him much in the past few years, I was still very sad when I heard of his passing.  Thanks for the memories, John.  You’ll never be forgotten!  Tracy

My family and I would like to send our heartfelt sympathy to John’s family.  I worked with him when our Dispatch was located in Lebanon.  He was a unique, kind man who would make most days better just by his sense of humor.  We all would go to hear the band Para-dice on Friday nights and he would dance more than anyone.  John, Tammy Bauer, Lisa Heist, Wesley Wixon, myself and others all sang Margaritaville at our Christmas party.  He will be sorely missed by so many peoples lives he touched.  Our hearts hurt for your loss, as we will feel this loss within our Comcast family too.

My father will be laid to rest tomorrow although there is great hurt for me and the others. There is also some comfort that he lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed all those around him and always smiled and was always glad to be around others. He was a more then a father to me he was the guy you could ask for advise. He would always cheer you up if you were down. He always one the one you turn too when you needed a laugh or a great story about his life experiences of which he had many. I can remember a great one that I will share. We had a boat together on the middle river. One morning we decided to go to breakfast one of his favorite meals. The line at the dinner was extremely long. On this day he was wearing his HBO jacket. I said to him it’s going to be about an hour. He look at me and said I handle this. Within minutes we were pushed to the front of the line and seated. When we were in the booth. I asked him. How in the world. He explained to me that he told them that him and I were filming the Sopario. And that we had to be back on the set in two hours. I remember the waitresses look at us with aww. So thanks to Comcast and my dads great imagination. We snuck one in on them. And an autograph that most likely the waitress still has. Rest in peace. For you have taught me about life and how to treat others. I will miss you every day

John always was a good friend. I will miss him.  The Godfather speak was always funny with John. I needed on start a line and John knew the rest . One last time John,  “I am Moe Greene I made my bones when you were going out with cheerleaders.”  How about this one John, “You want to buy me out, I will buy you out.” One last from a Few Good Men and Jack Nicholson, “You want the truth you can’t handle the truth. Going to miss you buddy.  Your father was good man and friend. I am sorry for your loss.
