It was a great honor to be a friend of Jack, the wise hippie elder. He took me to watch trains go by and of course knew all about every locomotive. We were just friends and did simple things together – sit around the fire in my back yard and talk or go to a park in a shady place on a hot Summer day. I really enjoyed his lengthy Facebook posts about his younger days and his thoughts about life. I will miss you, Captain Jack, and look forward to the day we meet again in a better place.

Rest in Sweet peace Jack. You made a large group of otherwise unconnected people, find solace and hope , drawing together reading your stories , and appreciating your wisdom during the quarantine. You have a large Facebook family, and we are all missing you.

I became friends with Jack on FaceBook. Many, many years ago he knew my former husband from being a member of a local band. I will so miss this gentle man who was so wise. His wit and talented story telling made chatting with him a joy. He has touched many folks with his writings. May his spirit soar with an unbinding freedom. RIP dear “Old Hippie”.
