John J. Pironis, 77

January 04, 2024

John J. Pironis, 77, of New Providence, passed away January 4, 2024, after a courageous 10-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Bobenhausen, Germany he was the son of the late Verners and Alise Lize Pironis. He shared over 20 years with Dorothy Pironis.

John’s sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him. His favorite number was 17, so whenever a question was asked, regardless of accuracy, his answer would be 17. He was famous for his canned spicy pickles and enjoyed visiting casinos.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Jahnis Pironis, Jess Pironis, Lauren Pironis, and Zachary Trimble, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Hospice & Community Care.

Dorothy, Thank you for helping my Uncle Johnny kick cancer in the tooshie several times over the past 10 years.  I will always remember when Baiba told me he’s medical motto was, “just don’t tell me the side effects!”  He seemed to always live his life with true joy and humor and like a cat, he had at least 9 lives over the years.  I also remember when I was 12 and we all took turns getting rides in his brand new Mustang convertible!  You are an amazing and strong woman and I’m so glad you both found each other and had over 20 years together.  Sending love and big hugs your way and hope to be back to visit within the year… Jennifer Pironis

John, you will be missed by so many. I will always remember our conversations down at the beach. And our quick little shopping trips in the jeep to the dollar tree. Your sense of humor always made me laugh. I was honored to be with you and Dorothy when you left this crazy world. Thank you for moving back to Pa when you did. It’s good to have family close. RIP! 🙏. (Your favorite Sister-in-law.lol)

Sorry to hear of John,s passing. I met John via Wohlsen Construction when I would submit bids to him for construction projects.  Got to know him and had several poker games with him – either at his pool house or my place.  And, yes, he would sometimes bring his jar of pickles. He was one of the nicest and most interesting people I have known. I will miss him.  Thanks for the memories.

Johnny we will always miss you but have so many fond memories of you. Your worlds best pickles will be missed also. I sure do hope they have pickles in heaven. I must say you handled cancer like a Champion.
