John H. Shetler, 64

John H. Shetler, 64, of Willow Street and formerly of Pequea, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. On June 4th he marked 36 years of marriage with his wife Bonnie L. (Fair) Shetler.
Born in Temple, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. Dr. John C. Shetler and Catherine Marie (Dinkelberg) Shetler. John graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School in 1978 and completed his studies at Millersville University earning a Bachelor of Science in Education and his PA Teacher Certificate in Secondary Education and Technology Education.
He first worked as an iron worker for Fisher Steel for 10 years and then as an antenna/tower technician for Specialized Construction in Pequea for 24 years, where he was known as “Newbie.”
John loved to hunt and fish. He was President Emeritus of the Descendants and Friends of the 314th Infantry American Expeditionary Forces, and a member of the Train Collectors Association, specializing in pre-war Lionel Trains. John previously volunteered with Millersville Fire Company and Trappe Fire Company, and he was a former member of Willow Street U.C.C.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, John’s family includes their three daughters, Sarah M. Kemble (Matthew) of Manheim, Elizabeth M. Shetler (Greg DeMascolo) of Conestoga, and Rachel M. Shetler of Great Falls, MT; three granddaughters, Riley Kemble, Lilah Kemble, and Lilly DeMascolo; two sisters, Erika Adams (Steve) of Delmar, NY, and Johanna Shetler of Norristown; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law Terry Young (John) and Chrissy Fair.
John’s family will greet guests from 2 to 3 pm, followed by a celebration of his life at 3 pm with Rev. Mark J. Thiboldeaux, Sr. officiating, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Interment will be private.
