John G. Funk, 69

August 18, 2020

John G. Funk, 69, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the only child of the late Angela (Propst) and Paul M. Funk. He was the loving husband to Shirley A. (Siple) Funk with whom he shared over 46 years of marriage.

John worked in the IT department for Armstrong Industries from 1973 until his retirement in 2010, where he was a dedicated employee. Most of all he cherished spending time with his beloved wife.

John gave in death as he gave in life. He was an organ and tissue donor. John’s final act was to give the gift of life though organ and tissue donation.

Interment will be private at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

I’m so sorry to hear of John’s passing!  A great one has left us.  He made work at Armstong so much fun.  I’ll never forget his bionic man tape loading, or the stories of his adoption, or his training Cindy to type amundo at the end of every command.  Our thing was to pass each other in the hall. I would say, “nice tie, John”. He would say, “its a rental”.  Hope you have a lot of fancy rental ties there in heaven, Buckshot!  Maybe the angels can give you the booty you always wanted, too.  Mybheart hoes out to you Shirley and family.. Love you!!!!  Kristy Knutson

John was one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. He made long days go by more quickly in the data center. I thought of him just Friday when I was picking up a UHaul trailer at the “portable hacienda”. RIP, buddy.

Good morning, Shirley. Sad and sorry to hear the news of John’s passing. Like many others I had the privilege and honor of working with John for a long time in Armstrong’s IT department. We worked a lot together, we learned a lot together and we definitely laughed a lot together!😁 While coworkers, more importantly, we were friends for which I am truly grateful. My sincerest condolences to you and the rest of your family.

Shirley,
Both my wife and I were devestated this morning when we read John’s obit. We are truly sorry and offer our condolences. Many good years spent with John Boy….he was the master of dry wit and could always make us laugh. He certainly was appreciated for that and his work ethic. May he rest in peace and blessings to you.
