John Christopher Vita, 78

February 16, 2022

John Christopher Vita, 78, passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 at his home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
He was born in Islip, Long Island, New York to Frank and Signa Vita, on June 27th, 1943.
He is survived by his wife of fourty-four years, Patricia Vita (of Lancaster, Pennsylvania), their daughter, Jennifer Vita (of Branson, Missouri), and only grandson, Hartlee Rhett. Sister, Betty Vita (of Freeport, Florida), niece Danja LeClaire (of Battlefield, Missouri), and her two sons Jacob and Brenden. Nephew, Jason Wegrzyniak (of Portland, Oregon), sisters-in-law, Jan Mindish and Barb Mindish. Cousins, JoAnn Baty Russo, Denise Vita Foster, Lynda Jackson and far too many more to mention.
John attended school at Choctawhatchee in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He began a career in direct sales and management that encompassed many East, West and Mid-West states.
He had a deep love for animals, especially his cats and dog. He enjoyed reading anything historical or scientific. He had a passion for playing golf and enjoyed the sport of boxing. He was raised Catholic, and became a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member at church, where after twenty-five years, he and his wife renewed their vows. He cherished the times with his in-laws, Micheal & Leone Mindish, on the farm in Western Pennsylvania.
He cared very much for his wife, Pat, his “sweetheart” and thought the world of their daughter, Jennifer. He took great pleasure in watching her play sports throughout her schooling and even ran the scoreboard her senior year, along with driving the bus to away games. He had an Italian background and great taste in food. He liked very much to cook and made the best chili, served at the school concessions. He had a variety of jobs ranging from a lifeguard, deputy sheriff, mortician apprentice, and worked in management for a finance company which led him to direct sales and ultimately his longest profession in hotel and restaurant management. He made many friends along the way and touched a lot of lives. He is greatly missed and our memories of him will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frankie Jr., sister, Carol-Ann Bliss, and his mother and father-in-law.
At his request, there will be no services, as his wish was to be cremated and placed on their mantle with his beloved pets.

I’m so happy that u passed peacefully in ur sleep at home, & that I was able to fly there to hold ur hand n kiss u again before they took ur body away from us, for good. But, we still had so many plans for the future…ur grandson & I’s future to b around u n moma more. I’m just so broken & devastated. I desperately need ur help to carry on. Please, meet me in a dream or give me signs here & there. I want to feel ur comfort & love. U were the best daddy & my entire world. RIP! ♥️
