John C. Stauffer, 77

May 20, 2021

John C. Stauffer, Jr., 77 of Manheim, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2021. He was the son of the late John C. Stauffer Sr. and Florence (Gerz) Stauffer. He was the loving husband to Marie F. (Ganse) Stauffer for over 50 years.

John was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of ’61 and continued his education at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology where he earned his associates in architectural drafting. He worked as a banker for many years and at multiple locations throughout Lancaster County. Most recently, he was the office manager at the former downtown Lancaster location of Northwest Savings Bank.

Being a part of his community meant a lot to John. He participated in many groups, and organizations such as the Rotary Club, ABC, Lititz Business Association, was a Judge of Elections in Manor Township, former president of the Men’s Club at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Millersville, and served as a Eucharistic minister at the church. John also was an avid sports fan. He was a supporter of Penn State, the Phillies, Eagles and all Philadelphia sports teams. He also enjoyed attending local sporting events and helped as an assistant for the Thaddeus Stevens wrestling team and an assistant coach for the Manor Ridge little league baseball team.

Most of all, John will be remembered for his infectious laughter that filled the room. He loved spending time with his family and his cherished granddaughter, Sophie. He had a great sense of humor that will truly be missed.

In addition to his wife Marie, John is survived by two children; John C. Stauffer, III (Heather) and Wendy Forshey (Jason). He is also survived by two sisters; M. Jane Greven, Mexico and Florence “Bobbie” Zuzu, Lancaster as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Veronica Gerz.

I just came across John’s obituary. So sorry to learn of his passing.  I grew up across the street on E. End Ave. and played with John, Jane and Bobbie. I would really like to find Bobbie if possible.  I am Susie Bowman Daidone.  Sympathy to all the family.
