John A. Painter, 90

John Arthur Painter, 90, of  Millersville, passed away on Friday August 29^th, 2008 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. Born in Long Island N.Y, he was the son of the late James and Nellie Brenner Painter. John was married to Leah Jane ( Becker) Painter.

Mr. Painter was employed as a consultant with RCA and Yerger Brothers in Lititz. He was a graduate of Seton Hall with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a member of the tennis and racquetball club in Lancaster, where he did professional video for the tennis players. John was a gourmet cook, loved to travel, gardening, music especially the Opera. He had a passion for the beach and the ocean. He loved discussing politics and had a great sense of humor.

Surviving besides his wife are his two sons, Dennis Painter of New Jersey, Philip Painter of  Pique, four daughters, Joan McDonald of Colorado, Marian Eide of Colorado, Christine Hampson of  Oregon, Claire Green of California, one stepson, Matthew Zimmerman of Maryland, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. John is preceded in death by four sons, Mark, Jerry, Joel, Rick Painter, one brother, Valentine Painter and one sister Helen Hoffbaurer.

A  memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11^th, 2008 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home Inc, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 on Saturday October 11^th, 2008 at 11:30AM. There will be a visitation from 11AM until the time of the service.  Friends may also greet the family after the funeral at the luncheon.
