April 13, 2020
John A. “Jack” Whitton, Jr., 83, of Lancaster, passed away April 13, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Elizabeth and John A. Whitton, Sr.
He will be fondly remembered for his dedicated years as an English teach for Pequea Valley School District. After his many years of teaching he continued assisting others in the community by volunteering at Immerse International in Millersville, where he assisted students with learning English as a second language.
In retirement Jack was fond of volunteering at food establishments around Millersville. He also enjoyed playing backgammon. More than anything else, Jack loved his grandchildren. He was a “Soccer Grandpa”, attending all of their games and cheering them on from the bleachers.
Jack’s memory will live on in his son, Michael D. Whitton, husband of Deborah (Honer), of Millersville; grandchildren, Steven, Lexi and Samantha, as well as his great-grandchildren, Avaah, Niko, Paisley, Hunter, Delilah and BJ. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and great-granddaughter, DJ.
In honor of Jack’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Millersville University Scholarship Fund.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family and have been entrusted to the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA.
