Joanne Lee Potts, 74

October 19, 2023

Joanne Lee Potts, 74, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Martha Potts.

Joanne was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. She worked as a nurse for many years and eventually retired as an office administrator for a psychiatrist group in Lancaster. Her family affectionately remembers her as being the coolest, most fun, spunky, and outgoing person. Joanne enjoyed camping, skiing, trips to the beach, reading, crossword and sudoku puzzles, and crocheting. She and her twin sister Joyce loved spending time together on the porch talking, taking shopping trips together, and going to “Wendy’s” now and then. She was selfless, spontaneous, onery, caring, firm but fair, and always put her family first.

Joanne is survived by her 2 children: Richard Dearolf (Kim) and Renee Heathcoat (Seth); twin sister Joyce Link; 6 grandchildren: Dallas Drury, Alyssa Schnupp (Robert), Chauncey Heathcoat (Sierra), Mikeilah and Jazmin Heathcoat, and Taylor Dearolf; and 5 great-grandchildren: Norra and Harper Schnupp, Ryker and Adley Brinkman, and Memphis Drury. She was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Potts.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Joanne’s name to American Cancer Society, cancer.org, or ASPCA, aspca.org.

We would talk in cafeteria.  We were not close otherwise, but some of those conversations were just fun.
