Jerry Burkholder, 72
September 05, 2015
Jerry Burkholder, 72, of Lancaster, fought the good fight against multiple myeloma for a decade until September 5, 2015. He felt he had a blessed life filled with many caring relatives, neighbors & friends, particularly his classmates from Conestoga Valley HS Class of ’61.
He enjoyed all sports on the field or in the recliner, classic car weekends at the beach, Enie & Donna’s deck parties, and Bike Weeks on our Harley. Jerry so cherished the talks with his grandson, Alex, about the merits of this or that classic car or truck.
He had been employed by Stumpf Builders, High Steel Structures and Highland Car Wash until his illness.
Left behind is his wife, Carol (Hall) Burkholder; twin brother, Terry (Sherry) Burkholder of East Earl; daughters: Cindi (Jeff) Krause, Shari (Sid) Martin; grandsons: Adam, Matt, Austin & Alex; and great-grand daughter, Isabelle, all of Lancaster. He is Uncle Jerry to 41, and Daddy to our fur-child, Molly.
Thanks to Lancaster Cancer Center doctors, nurses and support staff for their constant encouragement and never giving up hope. Thanks to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society for their support; and to Hospice & Community Care for a peaceful passing.
At Jerry’s request, there were no traditional services. A Celebration of Life for Jerry Burkholder will be held Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 3 PM – 5 PM in the Gym at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville, PA (Rt 222 5 miles south of Quarryville). Light Refreshments being served.

Condolences to the Family

Condolences to the Burkholder family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says Jehovah God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” May God bring you comfort and peace.

My condolences to Carol and brother Terry and all of Jerry’s extended family. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. I have many fond memories of times spent with Jerry. His great sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all. Although we had not been close for many years whenever we saw each other he was always the same, upbeat and just being “Jerry”. He will be sorely missed BUT always remembered. Respectfully, Paul Rineer
