I met Jere when he was on his riding mower cutting the lawn. He sure loved doing that!!  I always enjoyed our talks and his stories. Whenever I took my daily walk with my pups I always checked to see if he was outside. I remember knocking on the door after I hadn’t seen Jere in awhile just to say hi and our conversations always were so enjoyable with him and his daughter Amy. My pups and I would join both of them on porch to chat and catch up. Today I was doing my normal dog walk saw Amy and asked about Jere.  I was so heartbroken to hear of his passing back in December. He was always on my mind every single time I walked by the house. Thank you Jere for entertaining me, always making me laugh and truly caring. Such a truly genuinely kind man.. Always smiling…You will truly be missed ….My condolences to all family and friends.

Jere was an outstanding man in every way.  I grew up across the street from their family in Manor Ridge and know first-hand what a good, kind, and talented person he was.  He was a major role model for me as a kid and beyond.  May we meet again someday.

The term Renaissance Man is certainly befitting for a person like Jere. His understanding, skill and ability on a variety of subjects was truly inspirational. I particularly enjoyed his knowledge regarding the American Revolution and 18th century colonial architecture. And he could talk baseball with you for hours. A lovely man that will be greatly missed. Uncle Jere will be missed by all who were lucky enough to be part of his world. The last time I got to see him smiling. I’ll remember that the rest of my days.

Jere will be remembered for his warm smile and positive personality. He always expressed interest in others and I enjoyed watching his progress as he meticulously worked for many years restoring his historic home. It was fun each summer to watch his progress as he painted, repaired and installed the wooden shutters on his home. He immersed himself in Lancaster County history and used his talents to create many examples of Fraktur paintings. He was very talented in his knowledge of antique furniture and Lancaster County tall case clocks. He loved his family and grandchildren, especially their participation in sporting events. A very kind soul who will missed, but we will all rejoice when we join him someday.
