Jeffrey T. Russell, 48

SFC Jeffrey Thomas Russell, US Army, (retired), age 48, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 at his apartment in Wrightsville, PA. Jeff was born in Port Jervis, NY, son of Carol L. Decker Russell (deceased 1999) and Henry G. Russell, married to Vicky Russell of Lancaster, PA. Jeff was married to Elizabeth Russell.
Jeff honorably served in the 1st Cavalry Div. of the U.S. Army for 20 years, and he retired as SFC Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. Jeff served in The Gulf War (1990-1991), served 2 tours in Iraq (2004-2005) and (2006-2007), and served 2 tours in Bosnia, just to name a few. Jeff was awarded over 14 medals, ribbons and commendations, but he was most proud of his Audie Murphy Award which is awarded to those NCOs whose leadership achievements and performance merit special recognition. Like many other military combat veterans, Jeff suffered from PTSD and traumatic brain injury for which he was disabled.
Jeff is survived by his wife Elizabeth Russell of Colorado Springs, CO and her two daughters Jennifer and Heather; his father Henry G. Russell, married to Vicky Russell of Lancaster, PA: his three brothers: Jerry L. Russell, married to Jennifer of Lancaster, PA; Matthew A. Russell, companion to Wendy of Columbia, PA; and Michael A. Russell of Columbia, PA. Jeff is also survived by nephews and nieces: Brittany and her 2 daughters – Amara and Naomi; plus, Emma, Lindsey, Junya, Michael Jr. and his daughter Chloe, Brandon, and Kaitlyn. Jeff is also survived by his uncle Carl Russell, companion to Linda of Sparta, NJ, and his aunt Florence Rome of Sussex County, NJ. Jeff was predeceased by his mother Carol Russell (1999), infant sister Emma, and infant niece Kayla.
Services will be held February 28, 2020 at 12:00pm at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery, where Jeff will receive military honors.
