Jean Louise Logan, 81

June 21, 2025

Jean Louise Logan, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, after a courageous decade-long battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by loved ones at her passing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF)

Jean was raised in Newtown Square, PA, the daughter of William Schneck and Maxine Gustafson, alongside her siblings Elaine (Schneck) Lukens, William and Bonnie Gustafson.

Jean and Eugene L. Logan met over 58 years ago on a blind date, married outside Philadelphia, and set roots in Lancaster.

Jean was a three-sport athlete, homecoming queen at Marple Newtown High School, employee of General Electric supporting the Apollo space program, earned a master’s in education from Millersville University, and inspired fourth graders at Bucher Elementary for 17 years. She was a faithful servant of God, enjoyed bible studies with dear friends, and was a dedicated volunteer in both the Daughters of the American Revolution and the North Museum. Jean had a passion for entertaining shared with her lifelong friends in “The Gourmet Group”. She was highlighted by this newspaper in an article titled “Jean Logan Loves to Entertain!” for her cooking and welcoming of others into her home. She loved traveling but her favorite trips were family vacations where she cherished time spent with loved ones. She devoted her life to her children, Christina (husband Robert Orndorff), Greg (wife Alicia), and Pete (wife Laramie). Grammy was blessed to have nine grandchildren: Jessica, Addison, Zachary, Andrew, Matthew, Ryann, Maia, Ty, Grace and one great grandchild on the way. Time with these grandchildren was the greatest joy of her life.

While Jean will be missed dearly, we all can emulate her compassion, empathy, generosity, warm smile, thoughtfulness and faith. Her light will shine forever in our hearts – MOMSTRONG!

Dear Logan Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Jean was such a kind, caring woman with a great sense of humor. We met our first year of teaching in Manheim Township School District. We both taught fourth grade in different elementary schools, but we became friends through grade level meetings, etc.
I was honored to teach with her during her last year of teaching when she was transferred to Brecht. We had a lot of fun working together. She was a dedicated teacher and a terrific teaching partner. Jean made a difference in the lives of everyone she met, and she will be missed.

To all of Jean’s family, while I was out of town and couldn’t attend her final tribute, I wanted you all to know how beloved Jean was to all of us who met her. She was a dear member of our BOB’s Bible Study group at Highland Pres. Church, and I will be forever greatful for getting to know her in recent years. May our dear Lord watch over her and welcome her into her long yearned for final home. You all have my sincere condolences and deepest sympathies.

Dear Logan Family,
I had the great privilege of knowing Jean through the Donegal-Witness Tree Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was always prepared and willing—whenever we needed information, Jean was ready with an answer. When asked to participate in military awareness efforts, she gave her time with enthusiasm and grace. Jean was a truly pleasant presence, someone whose company I cherished.

She will be deeply missed by our chapter family. Personally, I will especially miss her insightful stories and the sound of her laughter—both of which left lasting impressions on all who had the good fortune to know her.

Dear Logan Family,
We are sorry for your loss. Please know many thoughts are there in sympathy with you.
Jean was an active and treasured member of our Donegal Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, where we served alongside her on the Board of Management. Her contributions were countless and impactful for our chapter, our community, and beyond with her leadership in the Patriot Project- Care Coalition and Special Operations Warrior Foundation committees that she spearheaded. We enjoyed working with your family.
Over the years, Jean served in many roles at different times, as our First, Second and Third Vice Regent of our chapter and and also was a chapter member on the Board of Directors. Our wonderful memories of times with Jean are many, from our board meetings and then chapter meetings, to bus trips, and never to be forgotten annual Spring Benefit Luncheons.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jeanne’s passing.  I had the privilege of teaching with her at Bucher for several years, and learned so much from her.  What a wonderful teacher and a beautiful person inside and out!  Most of all we had fun together as a fourth grade team and helped each other throughout our time together.  My deepest sympathy to the Logan family.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Logan Family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Please accept my sincerest Condolences. I was so surprised to read about Jean’s passing. We were 4th grade coworkers and good friends at Bucher Elementary School. She was a great mentor to me when I joined the staff after teaching in the middle  school, and we worked so well together. We always admired her hard work and dedications to the students. Jean and I were both devastated when she was asked in her last year to move to Brecht. We really missed her. When working in the middle school, I taught Pete. Jean was so very Proud of Pete’s Navy service and Navy Seal accomplishments and proud of all three of her children. My heartfelt blessings go out to all of you.Sandy Pearl 😢

I very much loved working with Jean at Bucher Elementary. I was always impressed that she got some walks in every day and then was an amazing teacher for her fourth graders! So very sorry for your loss of this special lady…

Dear Logan Family,
Jean and I volunteered together at the North Museum for a number of years.  We shared a love of children and of teaching.  We enjoyed planning our lessons together, executing them, and, of course, going out to lunch to share stories of our beloved children and grandchildren.  Jean will always hold a special place in my heart.
