Jean C. Freeman, 87

Jean C. Freeman, 87 originally from Leesburg, Virginia passed peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Mt Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim, PA.

Born on February 15, 1937 in Leesburg, VA, Jean was the daughter of the late George and Lola Carnes and the loving wife of the late Robert Freeman of Manheim, PA. She is survived by her children: Joni Owens of Cary, NC, William T. Owens of Middletown, VA, Vicki Greenfield (Duane) of Lititz, PA, George A. Owens (Kellie) of Leesburg, VA, stepdaughter Carol Freeman (William Higgins) of Emmaus, PA; her sister Frances Norris of Lansdowne, VA and nephew Rob Norris of Purcellville, VA. She had 7 grandsons, 1 great-grandson and 5 great-granddaughters.

Jean attended Loudoun County High School, Leesburg, VA; was a graduate of Shepherd University of Shepherdstown, WV and earned her Masters of Education from Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, VA. She was a lifelong educator teaching Middle School Language Arts and Math in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She also taught Christian Education within the Presbyterian Church sharing her deep love for the Lord.

Jean enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid reader and hosted many book chats. She enjoyed watching the Washington Nationals and the Redskins; and she loved nature and birdwatching. Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a private graveside ceremony at the Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
