Jason Warren Jones, 50

September 11, 2024

Through many tears and heavy hearts, the family of Jason W. Jones announce his unexpected passing on September 11, 2024, at UPMC Lititz, following a brief illness. He was 50 years old. Born in Oskaloosa, IA he is the son of Max W. and Linda (Sheets) Jones. He was the adoring husband to John Carbon, with whom he shared over 30 years of love, adoration, and memories.

Jason attended Eddyville High School in Eddyville, IA and transitioned to EMT Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, IA where he began his career in healthcare. He went on to attend Central College in Pella, IA and after moving to Lancaster, he obtained his nursing license from Lancaster School of Nursing and University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. He went on to work in the Emergency Depts. of local hospitals including Brandywine Hospital for over 10 years.

He was a voracious reader, indulging in everything from biographies to history and novels. Jason’s hobbies included maintaining fresh and saltwater aquariums in his home over the years, fishing, and spending time with others. He had a magnetic personality that drew others to him. He was a welcoming host and would frequently cook meals to bring his friends and neighbors together. His caring and generous heart also extended to his cats and dogs.

Jason will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his parents, his devoted husband John of Lancaster, a brother Troy Jones of IA, a niece, Tayler Jones Lawrence and family of CA, an uncle, M. Hugh Shaw of IA, his cousin, Brandon Sheets of IA, and three cousins, Teresa Shaw, Jennifer Garcia, and Jonathan Shaw of CO. He was preceded in passing by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Vivian Jones, maternal grandparents, Earl and Pearl Mae Sheets, and his aunts, Donna Sheets of IA, and Patricia I. Shaw of IA, and two cousins, Dana Shaw and Morris H. Shaw of IA. A Celebration of Jason’s life will be held at 6 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 1755. Jasons’s family will receive guests beginning at 5 PM.
