Jannie M. Scott, 73
April 15, 2020
Jannie M. Scott, of Manheim, passed away at The Mennonite Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. The daughter of the late Samuel and Ollie (Bruington) McClary, Jannie was born in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She was the wife of the late Liston I. Scott.
She loved to cook and often showed her love to others by feeding everyone around her, which fit Jannie so well as a cook for the Community Action Program of Lancaster County. Jannie was famous for her sweet potato pies.
Jannie was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Lancaster, and she loved to listen to Gospel music.
Jannie’s family includes her son, Randolph Scott of Lancaster, her daughters, Janice Scott of Manheim and Darlene Scott of Lancaster, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Margaret Brown of Rochester, NY and Phillip McClary and his wife Shirley of South Carolina.
In addition to her husband Liston, Jannie was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth McClary and her son Darvin Scott; and her siblings Elizabeth, Morris, Mary, Moreann, Everlena and Frances.
Private burial took place at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
Jannie’s family thanks The Mennonite Home, especially the staff on Jackson Run for the love and care they gave to their mother, and also thanks to Hospice & Community Care for the love and support they gave to their family.

I picked your Mother up for years and did her hair. She always had me laughing. I know just a little and you both were Good daughters to her.I know she felt your Love.
I can hear that funny giggle she had.
Let God be your bestfriend and you will see Joy. For there is nothing like a Mother’s Love.

My aunt Jannie was a life line to me in so many ways. I would spend all day with her from time to time especially during the times of sadness in my young life. Even as an adult I would find my way to her because she always made me feel welcome and loved. She was a great cook, you couldn’t go to her house and didn’t eat. I will miss her dearly.
