James P. Mansbery, 50
James P. Mansbery, 50, of 200 Owl Hill Rd., Lititz, PA died Friday in Stuart, Florida.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of O. Paul and Frances G. Taynor Mansbery of Stuart, Florida. He was the husband of Sharon A. Davison Mansbery, with whom he celebrated six years of marriage this past December 31st. .
James served as the Fire Chief and as a federal fireman at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station in Lakehurst, New Jersey, retiring in 2001 after 28 years of service. In October of 2000, he was awarded a citation for Meritorious Civilian Service by the U.S. Navy for his service at the Air Station. He had also been a member of the International Firefighters Association
A wonderful artist, he created works using sandblasted glass. He was a good friend to everyone he met, and was loved by those who knew him.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in Guantanamo Bay on the USS Forrestal.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three daughters: Jeanne M. of Lititz; Kelley M. of Toms River, New Jersey; and Mimi T. of Toms River, New Jersey; a stepson, Jason J. Caneal of Lititz; one grandchild, Oakley Spisak; two brothers: Thomas M., married to Carol Mansbery of Durham, North Carolina; and William F., married to Kathy Mansbery of Lititz; and two sisters: Margaret M., married to Kevin Girten of Lititz; and Kathleen M. Mansbery of Stanhope, NJ.
Friends will be received on at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Tuesday from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Friends will again be received on Wednesday from 10-11AM at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, PA, with Mass to follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Alzheimers Association – Delaware Valley Chapter, 100 N. 17th St., 2nd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
