James L. Lawrence, 78

James L. Lawrence, 78, of Lancaster, passed away on December 28, 2024.

He was the husband of Kathleen Scherer Lawrence, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage this past August 30th. Born in York, he was the son of the late John and Lucille Bucci Biese.

Jim had worked for 29 years for Paccar Parts Division in Lancaster as a truck parts distributor, until his retirement in 2012.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Jim enjoyed reading, watching sports and especially spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He was a 1965 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, and enjoyed monthly luncheons with classmates over the years.

He was a US Air Force veteran, serving as a Sgt. during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Jim is survived by his sons: Christopher married to Gena of Temecula, CA, Jason married to Kimberly of Ellsworth, ME, and Matthew married to Meredith of Herndon, VA; his 6 grandchildren: Hannah, Matilda, Chase, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Miranda; his brother, John married to Patricia Biese; his sister, Josephine Dick, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received by James’ family at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 10am-12Noon, with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12Noon. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to Hospice & Community Care or to the American Cancer Society.

Kathy, Chris, Jason and Matt: I was so sorry to read of Jimmy’s passing. I didn’t see him often when Ann was staying with you during my single dad workdays, but when I did we had some good conversations. He seemed like such a nice guy. What can I say to ease the pain that his family is feeling. Jim and our  friends met for breakfast once a month. I looked forward to talking with Jim. He always added to our interesting conversations. During that time he talked about is sons with great pride and his wife Kathy. He will be missed by more people than you wil be known. I miss you Jim. I truly wish that I counld see you one last time. God Bless
