James B. Patterson, 90
James B. Patterson, 90, died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Lakeside at Willow Valley, Willow Street, PA. Born in Arlington, VA, he was the son of the late John H. and Hattie Frances Harnsberger Patterson. James’s first wife Ann Virginia Holsinger Patterson died in 1984. His was married to Daisy M. Zuch Patterson since 1999.
James graduated from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington and the College of the Ozarks. He served in the US Navy during WWII with the Torpedo Squadron VT-13 as an Aviation Radioman Third Class.
He worked as an air traffic controller for the FAA, retiring in 1981. He took pre-flight training in Athens, GA, and was a member of the Civil Air patrol and the Silver Wings Flying Club. James was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are his wife Daisy M. Patterson, Willow Street, and his daughter Patricia Ann Patterson Harper, Berryville, VA. James was preceded in death by his son James B. Patterson, Jr. and his sister Helen Sides.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place 2 PM, Friday, March 9, 2012, in Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA, with The Reverend General Randy West officiating. A reception will be held 4-6 PM following the graveside service at the Blackthorne Inn and Restaurant, 10087 John S. Mosby Highway, Upperville, VA 20184. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to AseraCare Hospice, 315 Primrose Lane, Mountville, PA 17554, or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601. Hi Tish….I just saw the write up in the Star about your dads passing. I’m sorry to hear that. He was always good to all of us way back then when we would hang out at the house with JimB and everyone else. I know he will be dearly missed. Prayers to you and your family.
