James A. Schmidt, 91
August 06, 2025
James “Jim” Schmidt, 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Beesley’s Point and Ocean City, NJ, passed away on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of Russell and Margaret Schmidt. He shared over 70 years of love and memories with his devoted wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Schmidt.
Jim’s life and legacy revolved around his faith. A member of Calvary Church, his most important decision in life was accepting Christ as his personal Savior. As a member of SEND International, he dedicated countless hours leading short term missions’ trips and recruiting fellow missionaries. He is also remembered for his decades long successful sales career with Huntington Labs.
His warm and welcoming demeanor, kindness, and wit not only made him successful in his careers, but also created lifelong friendships. Jim was a practical joker bringing joy to many, both young and old. In later years he dressed up as “Dr. Beesley the Clown” going room to room in the hospital spreading cheer to the patients.
He proudly served in the Navy on the USS Currituck, with tours in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.
Jim’s memory will live on in his loving wife, their son, Scott Schmidt, daughters in law, Carol Schmidt and Lori Schmidt, 5 grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt, Krista Lottes, Kendra Kammerer, Becky Brazis, and Casey Schmidt, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by their son, James “Jimmy” Schmidt.
A Memorial Service honoring Jim will be held on Saturday, August 23 at Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA at 10:30 am, with a visitation time at 10 am. Private interment to take place at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to SEND International.

Condolences to the Family
August 22, 2025
Dear Dottie, Scott, Lori, and the entire Schmidt family,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Jim was truly one of a kind, and I count it a blessing to have served alongside him in Far East Russia. He encouraged me to step out in my faith, and I will always be grateful for the impact that missions trip had on the trajectory of my life.
I’ll never forget his mischievous sense of humor—like when he “shortened my seatbelt” by tying it in knots on the flight home. Of course, I gave him a story in return, which he enjoyed retelling. Those moments of laughter are just a glimpse of the joy he brought to so many.
Jim will be deeply missed but never forgotten. What a comfort to know he is now face to face with his Lord and Savior.
Dos vidaniya Jim
With love and prayers,

Jim was one of a kind. He and Dottie became such good friends to our family. He made us feel like family from our first meeting. He was there when we needed guidance and quick with a joke to always make you laugh. He will be greatly missed. Memories will always remain.

My deepest condolences to you. Praying for strength, peace and comfort at this time. Thankful that I had the chance to know Jim and that I had many laughs with him! If it hadn’t been for CWC, I never would have gotten to know you or Jim. Love you Dottie! Joyce Wheaton (The Millbilly)
