Jacqueline Troop “Jackie” King, 93

December 03, 2024

Jacqueline RoseAnne King, affectionately known as “Jackie,” passed and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. She was born on March 10, 1931. Her mother was Thelma B. Troop and her father was William Loyd Troop. She was preceded in death by her sister Thelma Barnhart and survived by her brother William “Bill” Troop. She was the great granddaughter of George Washington Brientnall, Lancaster’s drummer boy in The Civil War battle of Shilo.

She was the beloved wife of late Robert V. King. She met her “Bobby” while they attended J.P. McCaskey HS. They were married for 72 years.

Robert became a U.S. Marine pilot and they spent a few years traveling and serving their country and then settled back in Lancaster to raise and be with family.

Our mom was passionate about her Faith in God, our family, and our country.

Jackie had a love and talent for writing, home décor, antiquing and local history. She took pride in decorating and creating a wonderful home. Many of her fondest years were spent with family and friends running, and managing Brookside Swim Club.

She was always “thankful” for a life well lived till the end. She was a beloved mother to her two surviving daughters, Tamara Miller and Sandra Rawhauser, wife of the late Samuel Rawhauser. She is also survived by her son in law Jay H. Miller, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

She was a beloved member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lancaster.

Because of you mom… “We have the hearts of lions and such love of family.” GiGi, may you soar with the angels and your Bobby.

Services will be private.

Dear Tammy and Sandy
I’m so sad to hear of your mother’s passing. What wonderful memories through the years of times spent with your family. I know how much my parents cherished their friendship with your mother and dad. Sending love and prayers as you mourn the loss of your wonderful mom.

My heartfelt condolences for Mrs. King’s family. I have always held a high amount of respect for Both Mrs. King, and Mr. King. The Kings made a huge positive impact on a lot of peoples lives. Numerous young people were given the opportunity to work at Brookside Pool as either their first job or one of their first jobs. I’m very thankful they provided me with the opportunity to work at Brookside. I will not forget the great role model they set, and what truly good people they both were.
Respectfully

Tammy and Sandy and families, my heartfelt sympathies to you.  Your mom was such a sweetie.  My very first DJ job was doing the very last moonlight dip in Aug. of 78.  I blew my brother’s speakers out as I really didn’t have the right equipment.  I went to the bathhouse and told her what happened.  She paid me, Which I didn’t want, but she insisted.  And also gave me a handful of quarters to plug the jukebox.  Her kindness and generosity were two of her greatest characteristics.  Your mom and dad are toghether again.  Peace be with you all.

Dear Family of Jackie,  Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you as you hold onto memories of your mother.  Both of your parents were part of my life through Covenant UMC.  Your Dad was my 7th grade Sunday School teacher while both of them were supportive of my music ministry.  Your mother’s vivacious personality and lovely smile were always a joy to see on Sunday mornings.  Blessings to your entire family as you treasure the good times.
