April 24, 2024
Jacqueline N. “Jackie” Young, 93, of St. John’s Herr Estate and formerly of Lancaster; passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Luther Acres. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Martin V. and Maude E. (Lowery) Evans. She was the wife of the late Jacob F. Young, Sr. who passed away in 2013.
Jackie was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. She enjoyed dancing and making her famous fudge and peanut butter eggs for her family and friends at St. John’s Herr Estate. The folks at St. John’s knew her as the lady with the great, big smile. Her laughter and her upbeat attitude helped to bring smiles to their faces as well.
The most important part of Jackie’s life was her family. She enjoyed hosting family dinners and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and greatgreat-grandchildren (especially the babies). Her home was always warm and welcoming. Her love was a blessing to all.
She is survived by her four children: Deborah N. Markley, wife of Donald S., of Lancaster, J. Frank Young, Jr., husband of Joyce, of Mount Joy, Pamela A. YoungWhite, and Patricia L.Y. Wanger, wife of Brian both of Lancaster; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her five sisters.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at 12PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM prior to the service. Interment will be private.

Condolences to the Family

I was so sorry to learn of Jackie’s passing. Jackie was my mother’s (Arlene) best friend at St Johns for many years. They did so many things together, including making the Easter peanutbutter eggs, baking for the fundraisers, and just “hanging out”. Jackie always had a smile and was always upbeat with a good sense of humor. It was a blessing for my mother when Jackie joined her in Personal Care. Praying you all find comfort in the love & memories you have had with her.
