J. Blaine “Pop” Mosso, 94

J. Blaine “Pop” Mosso, 94, of Lancaster, formerly of Shiremanstown and Wellsboro, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.  Born in Escota, NC, he was the son of the late Orilla May (Wilcox) and William F. Mosso.  He was married for 51 years to his beloved wife, Nancy (Nailor) Mosso who passed away on June 30, 2009.

A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, Pop retired from the US Navy as a Chief Warren Officer after 22 years of service from 1935-1958.  He worked as a purchasing manager at Reeves-Hoffman Division from 1960-1980 until he retired.  Pop was an avid golfer and played golf with his grandson until the age of 85.  He enjoyed reading and the pursuit of knowledge, and was well versed in current events.  Pop was a volunteer as an in-class tutor at Buchanan Elementary School and Lancaster Country Day School.

Surviving is a daughter: Ellen Coover Mosso Mowrer, wife of David C., of Lancaster; a grandson: Joseph B. Ginther of Lancaster; a brother-in-law: Edwin S. Nailor, Jr., husband of Betty, of Ventura, CA; a son-in-law: Joseph J. Ginther, of Landisville; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 with Pastor Richard Jorgensen officiating.  A private interment will be held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604; Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602 or A Tail to Tell Rescue, http://www.atailtotell.com/.  To send the family online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com.
