Hilda L. Treasure, 96
September 10, 2024
With heavy hearts the family of Hilda L. Treasure announce her passing on September 10, 2024, in Springfield, VA. She was 96. Born in Bolivar, PA, she was the daughter of the late Donato and Giselda (Patriaca) Antonacci. She was the devoted wife of Blair Treasure for over 64 years, until his passing in 2016.
Hilda worked as a 4th grade teacher at Eshleman Elementary School, in Penn Manor School District for over 25 years. She and Blair will also be remembered as long-time parishioners at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, before moving to Virginia to be closer to their family. She was part of the Women’s Auxiliary at the church, volunteered at the gift shop of Lancaster General Hospital, and served in every office in Pi Lambda Theta, where she also served as President twice.
Hilda dedicated her time to her friends and family. She was a beloved grandma that involved herself in all her grandsons’ activities and spoiled them, especially during their weekly summer stays with her. She was a loving aunt to her many nephews and nieces. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, baking, and shopping for the best deals.
Hilda is survived by her son David Treasure, husband of Jennifer of Springfield, VA; grandsons: Sam, Tyler, and Jake of Springfield, VA; and a brother, Edward Antonacci. She was preceded in passing by her husband Blair; their son, James Treasure, and brothers: Dante Antonacci, Donald (Bill) Antonacci, and Anthony Antonacci.
The family will receive guests on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hilda’s name may be made to the James E. Treasure Family,
Mrs. Treasure was my 4th grade teacher 50 years ago and I’ve never forgotten her. Her name has appeared over the years in my password questions of “favorite teacher”. I will always remember how she made every student feel special. I also noticed how she helped a student that had fallen on hard times by supplying extra clothes. I admired how she quietly helped, allowing the student to keep their dignity. The lessons I learned in her class were not just academic. In looking at the tribute video, it’s obvious how loved she was by her family. I’m very sorry for your loss. She has truly made a big impact in her life.

Dear Dave,
I was visiting in Millersville and my Mom showed me your Mom’s Obituary, I am so sorry to hear, my sympathies for you and your family’s for your loss. When Mom and I drive over to Lowes and pass your old house by the Manor Township Park, I think of her and your brother Jim. May they rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Jerry Henger

In my career at Millersville University, I was fortunate to meet and work with hundreds of dedicated teachers. Clearly, Hilda Treasure was one of my very favorite. She was always caring and simply a delight to be around. I remember her working with our student teachers and then, after retiring, she helped evaluate my students at the Heroes Fair every semester. Her life was truly a blessing for everyone who was privileged to know her.
Hilda was my second favorite person with that first name…following my own blessed Mother also named Hilda! Dennis Denenberg

I remember Mrs. Treasure as very welcoming, caring, and supportive. Not too long ago, I talked with her at Central Manor Campmeeting. She had ventured there out of her familiar circle because she enjoyed the congregational singing at the camp. Mr. Treasure helped me get admitted to Millersville, which started me into decades of academic life. My condolences to Dave and his family! Craig Forney

I am compelled to correct an error in my prior post. I stated Hilda was my only aunt on the Antonacci side of the family, solely thinking about my father’s siblings. I omitted my aunts by marriage, Bernice Antonacci, Bebe Antonacci (deceased), and Helen Antonacci (deceased), and apologize for the omissions.

Hilda was our only aunt on the Antonacci side of our family. She was kind, generous, witty, and fun. Reading the other messages, it’s obvious that she was an excellent and dedicated wife, mom, friend, and teacher, and a positive influence on many people outside of our family. The world needs more people like her. Hilda and her family are included in our special intentions every week at Mass. Tedd and Nancy Antonacci

Mrs. Treasure- what a perfect name for such a special teacher. She is the name that pops up whenever asked to reflect on a teacher who had a special impact. I’m sure there are hundreds and hundreds of us that have a similar, inspired feeling and a warm smile when we think of the impact she had on us in that one, valuable year we were lucky enough to learn from her. I truly feel so, so lucky to have had her in my life. May her memory be a blessing.

To the Treasure Family,
I was lucky enough to have Mrs Treasure in 4th grade in 75-76. She was a great teacher. It was one of my favorite years in school. We had a luau and we embroidered a bicentennial quilt. She was a “treasure” in every sense of the word. I’m glad you had her for so long.

Tim Antonacci here. Hilda Treasure was my aunt and an awesome one! An overall awesome human!
I recall visiting Hilda and her family in Bolivar, Altoona and mostly Lancaster!
My wife, Shirley and I, moved to Lancaster in 1971. Hilda with Hap and the boys were our “family connection” for the 5 years we lived there. They made the holidays especially enjoyable being that our immediate families were 5+ hours away!
Hilda was memorable and loved for her intelligence, kindness and totally fun behavior. She and Shirley both lived to shop!
We will miss Hilda (Huey when I was a kid).
God bless her and her family.

Dave, Gina and I are so sorry to hear bout youyr Mother’s passing. She was a truly special person. I loved teaching with her at Eshleman. My daughter Gina rememberes Mrs. Trasure’s Hawaiian Luau, no bake coookies, and so many other things. One of my favorite memories was going to dinner one evening and she told to get dessert first so my meal doesn’t fill me up.
Please take care and know how well she was loved.

Dear David and your family,It was a surprise to see your mother’s obituary a few minutes ago. I knew your parents from St. Philips and MUP. Gracious, kind and loving are words to describe both. Your mother was organized and a friend to me in my family’s time of sorrow. It is a blesssing that she was with you for so many years. Peace to you all, Jo Anne Farley

Dave, Looking at Facebook this evening this announcement popped up and seeing the picture, she sure looked familiar. It’s been decades since I was in your home on circle drive. When I saw her last name it clicked somehow. Sorry to hear of her passing but you were so lucky having her with you for so long.
This memory also made me recall you telling me how mad your dad was at me for not taking a pitch when he gave me the sign to do so. I truly thought “take a pitch” meant trying to hit it no matter what, until you told me the truth!
Hope this makes you chuckle a bit at this difficult time. My best to you and your family. Kirby Wiest
