Henry Christian Brandt, 24
Henry Christian Brandt, 24 of 10 North Market Street, Lancaster peacefully passed away and rose to a better place, August 9, 2007 at his home. Born in Lancaster, March 10, 1983, he was the third son of Bob and Barrett Brandt. He was the brother of Bob Brandt III and Geoff Brandt. He recently became the brother of Kathryn A. (Kurtz) Brandt.
Henry was a loyal teammate at Benchmark Construction Company, Brownstown, PA. Starting at age 12 as an assistant delivery person, working as a shop assistant, job site laborer, assistant to the president and finally as safety manager. He had completed multiple O.S.H.A safety programs. Henry graduated from Forman Academy, Litchfield, Connecticut. Henry attended Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, PA and Lynn University, Boca Raton, FL.
In 2002, Henry participated in Forman Academy’s prestigious Rain Forest Project in the jungles of Costa Rica. Henry was a talented football player at Forman Academy starting in 16 games his junior and senior year. He played tight end and caught the game winning pass his senior season as the Lions broke a 10-year drought of loses to Avon Old Farm School. He also participated in Lacrosse and Basketball. He was a knowledgeable Big Ten football fan. He was a strong supporter of Indiana Hoosiers and the Utica College Pioneers.
Henry was and enjoyed being the family comedian. He always engaged with people and had the personality to enlighten anyone he met. He was a wonderful son and the best baby brother a family could ask for. He loved his mother. He had many friends.
Henry and his grandfather, Jeff Durkota, a member of the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division, traveled to Italy in 2003 to participate in the 10th Mountain’s annual reunion.
He was baptized a Lutheran at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, brothers and sister, Henry is survived by his paternal grandmother Jane E. Brandt, his maternal grandfather Jeff Durkota both of Lancaster. His Aunts and Uncles, Shep and Patty Smith, Bill and Linda Durkota all of Lancaster, and Georgia Durkota of Los Angeles, CA. Cousins Sarah and Stuart Smith, Erica, Christian, Marie and Lindsey Durkota.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday morning at 11 AM at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church 700 Pleasure Rd., Lancaster, Pa. with the Rev. Timothy Bettger officiating. Friends and colleagues may pay their respects to Henry’s family on Wednesday morning from 9 AM to 11 AM at the church. Interment will be held at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane League of Lancaster County 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602. Charles F.
