Helen E. Nowlin, 71

August 04, 2025

Helen E. Nowlin, 71, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Manning, SC, she was the daughter of the late Enis Pintegras and Azalea (Weathers) Young. She was the loving wife of the late John Nowlin.

Helen was a former member of the Church of the Living God where she shared her faith and love for music by serving as the choir director and teaching Sunday school. She left Church of the Living God and took membership at Church of the Father Son and Holy Ghost. She had a special way with plants and took great joy in tending to her houseplants, nurturing them with care. Helen loved watching the Hallmark Channel. Throughout her life, Helen worked with and cared for children, a calling she embraced with compassion and patience. She also enjoyed shopping. Above all, Helen was devoted to her family. They were the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to loving and supporting them.

She is survived by her children, Pastor James (Janette) Nowlin and Evangelist Renamae (Byron) Nowlin-Simmons; her siblings, Betty Johns, Jeffery Young, Wilbert Young and Cynthia Williams; her grandchildren, Stephan Santos-Diaz, Demetrius Hawkins, Marcel Hawkins, Brianna Simmons, Kari Simmons, and Savannah Simmons; her great-grandchildren, Kaydance, Jayceon, Lorynn, Xavier, Xailani, and Gabriel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepdad, Joseph Young, Sr.; her husband, John Nowlin; and her siblings, Joseph Young, Jr. and Jack Young.

Friends and family will be received from 9AM to 11AM on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 11AM. Interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park.
