Guy H. Weidman, 82
January 16, 2024
Guy H. Weidman, 82, of Lebanon, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 unexpectedly at his residence. A longtime Lancaster County resident, he had also lived in Mt. Wolf, PA before moving to Lebanon.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clarence K. and Kathleen E. (Radcliffe) Weidman. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Given) Weidman. He was a graduate of Pequea Valley High school where he was in gymnastics, soccer, and played trombone in the band.
Guy was a proud veteran having served in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS Orion. For many years Guy was a dedicated and loyal employee of RAM Motors and Controls. He was a lifelong member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and Electrical Apparatus Service Association. A longtime member of the Brickerville Lions Club, Guy was dedicated to serving his community. And while in Mt. Wolf, he served on the Borough Council and the York County Republican Committee. He found joy in hunting and fishing, especially in the pristine waters of Alaska and at the Salmon River in New York. Ballroom dancing, cruising, and traveling were among the many shared pleasures with his beloved wife. In his retirement, Guy and his wife found warmth in Florence, AZ as snowbirds. Whether puttering in his shed, tending to his yard and garden, or cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Guy embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. Favorite pastimes included playing golf, pool, various card games, and swimming in the family pool. But his absolute favorite was spending time with his grandchildren and watching their many sports and activities. He and wife were most recently members of the Friedens Lutheran Church in Myerstown. Previously, he had belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Mt. Wolf and St. John Lutheran Church in Brickerville.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his daughter, Sherry A. Bomberger (Bryan) Lititz; his grandchildren, Eric Getz, Morgan Bomberger, and Brant Bomberger. He is also survived by brothers, William G. and Evan P. Weidman.
A service will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003. Please meet outside of the front office of the cemetery by 11:20AM at the latest to proceed for the service. I’m so sorry to hear about Guy’s passing! My parents are Bob and Pat Landis – we used to visit your family. I’ll never forget how one time I went in the pool and was struggling to swim and Guy jumped in, fully clothed, to help me. I remember his amazing smile, quick wit, and how kind he was. Praying for peace and comfort for your family!!
