Gustavo Adolfo Rivera, 76
December 03, 2021
Gustavo Adolfo Rivera, Sr., 76, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was the loving husband of Milagros (Soto) Rivera. Together they shared 44 years of marriage.
Born on May 24, 1945 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gustavo was the son of the late Jacobo and Luz (Baez) Rivera. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Victor Rivera; and his sisters, Minerva Rivera and Teresa Rivera.
Gustavo served the City of New York as an EMT for 15 years before his retirement. He was a spiritual man who was raised Catholic and was always studying The Bible and learning from it. He enjoyed dancing- particularly Salsa- and loved the Doo-wop groups of the 50’s-60’s as well as the classic cars of the era. He was a fan of Spaghetti Western movies and was always laughing and quick with a corny joke. Most of all, Gustavo was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, godfather, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his wife, Gustavo is survived by his son, Gustavo Adolfo Rivera, Jr.; his daughters Sandra Gary (wife of Wakanda), Frances Soto, and Gena Rivera; his grandchildren Joshua, Gabrielle, Antonio, Rafael, Juan, Melissa, Jose, Jonathan, and Keilani; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Ishmael Rivera, Anibal Rivera, Nelson Rivera, and Milton Rivera.
