My sincere condolences to Gus’s friends and family. Gus was such a staple at the HOP and was always so cool to us kids back in the 80’s when we would hang out there playing the video game machine and being rowdy. Every now and then he’d have to get stern with us and kick us out, but the next time we came back in… there was never any animosity. Gus was such a kind soul. RIP sir.

My condolences to the family. It says Gus worked at HOP for over 30 years.  I would think it was over 40. Seems to me Gus was there when I was at Penn Maor in the late 70’s MU in the early 80’s  my days with the MFC and Killer Bees softball in the 80’s 90’s 00’s and beyond. He was a Millersville legend and will be missed. Gus was always fun,and upbeat and treated his customers like friends and family. I will miss him.

To Family & Friends,
So sorry to hear about Gus’ passing.  I worked with Gus at the House of Pizza for 4 years.  He was a great guy to work with!  He was kind and loved to laugh.  I moved away from the area a long time ago, but I did have the opportunity to visit a few years back. Gus was still the friendly and caring guy I knew.  He will be missed!  My condolences to all family & friends. – Shannon

Peace and love to Gus’ family. He was alwasy one to brighten my day at the restaurant. Always had a joke or would say something to put a smile on my face. Gus was a legend and this impact is felt by the community. May God comfort you as you mourn.

For two decades including my Millersville University undergrad years, we went to see Gus as much as went went for the pizza. I was flattered that after I started my career, he remembered me coming in as an undergrad. That’s significant because college involved a lot of rock shirts, not suits and ties (haha)
I would say he’ll be missed, but he already was missed last time I was at H.O.P. and didn’t see him because he retired. May he rest in peace with the Lord.

Dear Family,
We were sorry to read of Gus’ Homegoing and we were sorry we could not attend his service.
We knew Gus from the House of Pizza! What a wonderful, caring , cheerful man.
We would go there after church on Sunday evening for pizza. We went there for about 20 years with our two daughters. He would smile, laugh, talk to them. Ask them about what they learned at church and in school. His face always lit up when we walked in the door. Our girls loved Gus.
Then away to college and work they went. We would stop in from time to time and he would ask about them. Then Covid etc. and finally we were back again to HOP. This time , “Where are the girls? What are they doing?’ So pictures came out – 3 grandsons – he was soooooo delighted. He had not forgotten them!!!
We talked as though we had just been there last week. We have seen him maybe three times in the last couple years. We don’t eat as much pizza any more.
We will miss him when we do go now. The girls were very sad to hear of his passing.
May you know the sustaining peace and comfort that God can bring.

my sincere condolences go out to Gus’s family, I have known Gus since I was 23 years old and I am now 56. I used to live above the pizza shop on Manor and New Dorwart St., When Gus and his brother were running it. I bought a house outside of Millersville, that’s one. Gus met my youngest daughter, who is just a little baby girl. He fell in love with her, and always treated her like she was his little girl. Every week we would order food from House of Pizza, and every week when Gus saw my daughter, he always had a big smile on his face. He was like part of the family, Gus my brother. may your generous, and loving soul, RIP. You were definitely rewarded with your Angel wings my friend. God bless🙏🙏🙏

My sincere condolences to Gus’s family at this difficult time. Gus was someone I considered to be a friend. It was such a a pleasure to walk in to the House of Pizza and see Gus. He was a genuinely nice guy who would always ask how my family was doing. If he wasn’t busy with his customers he would always take a moment to talk about the day or something sports related. Heaven gained a good one with Gus.
Rest in Peace my Friend!

I worked with Gus at House of Pizza while attending Millersville University from 2011-2015. As a member of Millersville Rugby Club, Gus always looked out for me and my teammates and helped keep us out of trouble. Many generations of the Millersville rugby team will remember him, and his banter fondly. One of his favorites: whenever you would order two beers, Gus would respond with a laugh, “One for me and one for you?”One for me and one for you buddy, may his memory be eternal.Christian Stock

Gus is and always will be a man to be admired and emulated, a genuine gentleman.  Trustworthy, kind and loyal are quaities Gus personifies by just being himself.  Back when it was Millesville State, I worked at House of Pizza with Gus, Pete, Maurice, Eddy, Allen, Carlos, Tolio, Debbie, Shannon, Bobby and a bunch of other really nice folks.  Every one of us, Loves Gus.  I know that it is cliche, but Gus really is a hard worker.  He takes pride in all that he does.  I write these words in the present tense because Gus is in Heaven, and he is alive and well in the company of Pope Anacletus, Pope Hyginus, Pope Eleutheius, and Pope Sixtus II. and all other Popes and Saints.  The Lord recieved Gus way too soon, yet The Lord, in all His Grace, gave us a man that touched people in such a way that it made you want to be a better person.  He’s with Socrates, Alexander The Great, Aristotle and Plato now, and all those amazing minds are finally realizing that there is a man who is the apotheosis of virtue, grace and benevolence.  It is an honor to know you, Gus.
Peace and Love to Gus’ Family and Friends, Martin Lafferty and The Lafferty Family

I am sorry to hear about Gus’s passing…I can’t remember exactly when I first met Gus at the House of Pizza, or HOP, as it was known…Maybe it was when i was still a student or when I started working at Millersville university…either way, Gus made a huge impression on me…I was part of a group of folks who made the HOP our regular hangout on Monday nights for over 20 years…Gus was part of that…he always treated us with kindness, a good word, and a pleasant personality…We always knew if Gus was working, we would ahve a good time…he became a part our our team…When I moved to California, it tool me a few years to get back to the HOP..one ChristmasI came home and visited and as soon as I walked in the door, Gus said ” Hey Lou, What’s new?” As if he had jsut seen me the day before…but it had been at least 2 years…I last saw Gus at Christmas time in 2022 when I visited home…We talked about retirement and how long we had known each other and all was good…I did not get to the HOP this past spring when I went home, but I would have known something important was missing, Gus!!!  Rest in Peace my friend and get ready to serve me a cold beer and a slice when I see you again

Gus was an amazing man. We enjoyed dining at the pizza shop. He always made my family feel like his family. We also enjoyed him at CW Imports. He was a real jokester and we loved to banter with him. My family will miss him deeply. He watched my boys grow up and could not believe that they passed him in height. (Wink) I can imagine that the heavens will be blessed with his humor and his love for cooking. You will be surely missed Gus. God’s blessings be with your family.

Gus was truly one of a kind. We will miss our holiday lottery tickets, his infectious laughter, and most of all, his boundless generosity. His warmth and kindness lit up every room, and his spirit was a gift to all who knew him. We are all better for having had him in our lives, and while his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire us every day.
