Gulderen “Rose” Ersoy Larmie, 88

November 06, 2021

Gulderen “Rose” Ersoy Larmie, 88, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Saturday, November 6, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert “Sonny” Larmie, who passed away on November 7, 1998.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Rose was raised by her grandmother, Eminye Semiye and lived all over the country before relocating to the USA in the 1960’s.

Rose was known for being a fantastic cook and loved preparing her take on traditional Turkish foods- especially her baklava and stuffed grapeleaves. She was a proud homemaker who loved keeping a spotless home. Rose was an award-winning gardener and credited the Lancaster soil for her success. She loved travelling all over the country. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, knitting, crochet, and needlepoint.

Rose is survived by her children, Anna M. Larmie, John P. Larmie, and Emily R. Gates; her grandchildren, Roberto Gutierrez, Tony Hawkins, Nicholas Larmie, Josie Gates, Madeline Larmie, and Benjamin Larmie; and her great-granddaughter, Romi Hawkins. In addition to her husband, Rose is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School at give.stjo.org or 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, SD 57325. Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Condolences to the Family

December 03, 2021

Emily & Josie, Anna & Robert and I can not remember your brothers name at the moment. To all the family and loved ones. Rose as I remember her from the first day we met in 1999 her kindness shined like a bright summer day in Georgia. As we got to know one another her, Emily and Josie became family to me. We shared so many good times together along with her great cooking, shopping at the Farmers market etc, every moment with her I learned something that stuck with me all these years. We managed to stay in contact with one another all these years and I thank God for that beautiful friendship we had. She will always be in my heart as Emily, Josie will be. I want you to know I’m hear for whenever you feel the need. I pray that you both will continue to  be her pride and joy you made her proud. Much love  as condolences go to all the family.
