Glen B. Spearman, 60

August 4, 1960 - December 21, 2020

“He Looked Beyond My Faults and Saw My Needs”

The earthly, physical beginning of Glen Bannie Spearman was August 4, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA. His transition occurred, December 21, 2020 at home in Lancaster, PA.

His parents Ruth Chaplin McCoy and William Bannie preceded him in death. He was the youngest of eight children, his brother Vernon preceded him in death. Glen was educated in the Philadelphia School System and was employed by the Philadelphia Naval Yard until a devastating accident rendered him temporarily disabled. After relocating to Lancaster, he went to work at Lancaster General Hospital until his demise. He developed a special bond with his co-workers, medical staff and patients.

Glen had a personal relationship with God, he was baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Chris as his personal Savior. He was a member of the House of Bread Life Changing Ministry. He served as head of the mens department, leading men’s prayers on Saturdays. He was also a choir member and loved to sing.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Marcieta Marie Elo on March 11, 1996. To this union two daughters were born, Glenisha Marcieta and Deyonna Carreath. He inherited a step-son, Saleem Elo, who became not only his son, but his best friend and confidant, they were very close, they were inseparable. He had 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Glen was a free-spirited person, a family-oriented person, and an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His extended family loved him dearly. Glen’s sudden demise has devastated all who knew and loved him.

Glen leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Marcieta, daughters Glenisha, Deyonna, son-in-law Tyler Toney, step-son, Saleem, daughter-in-law Neya, son, Glenn Rafael; sisters: LeVerne, Shirley, Shirlene (Michael White), Towanda, Debora (Anthony Wallace) and Tujanna; Aunts: Ruby Chaplin, Norma Parker, all of Philadelphia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Gay Elo; sisters-in-law Norma, wife of Alonzo Shands, and Delana, married to Kevin Gander.

Hold Us Up Lord
Lord, we know you’re always busy, for you have many things to do.
But, when sorrow over comes us, well, we’ll need to talk to you.
For we’ve lost someone precious and he is with you there above.
And it’s someone that we needed, and it’s someone that we love.
We are feeling lost and all alone, and though we do believe,
We need you Lord to hold us up, to help us while we grieve.

To the family, your husband, father, stepfather, & brother will be greatly missed & was loved by many! A special person & brother to me, I am grateful to have known Bro Glen, who I met through his wife, my sister in Christ, Marcey Spearman. When Bro Glen was around, he made me feel like family! Hard to see one of this dynamic dual leave here. “Bonnie and Clyde” I nicknamed them! They were a “ride or die” couple. It was very evident to anyone who knew Bro Glen, that he loved his family! I pray that his legacy of love for family continues through you all! And may the love of God comfort you & give you peace during this time of great loss! Love & prayers, Evang Robertson aka Sister Charlotte💕
