Gladys N. Charles, 93, of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Country Meadows surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillie (Trout) Neuhauser and the wife of Warren H. Charles, Sr. for 62 years, who passed away in 2005.
Gladys was a loving mother and grandmother, whether it was attending all of their sports events or helping in any way she could. She, along with her husband, were avid Phillies fans and would attend spring training in FL. Her activities involved crocheting, cooking, playing pinochle and her whole world revolved around her family. She was a member of Covenant UM Church.
She will be missed by her surviving daughter, Vonnie Smith, wife of Wayne and her son, Tom Charles, husband of Lisa both of Lancaster; her sister, Helen C. Butzer; seven grandchildren, Kelly (John) Brown, Scott (Marcy) Smith, Josh (Jessica) Smith, Michael Smith, Zack Charles, Tyler Charles, Brady Charles and eight great-grandchildren, Aaron, Micah, Nate, Hannah, Paityn, Brinley, Nolan, and Maelyn, and daughter-in-law, Rochele Charles. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son, Warren Charles, Jr and her siblings, George F., Dorothy M., Mildred P., Richard L., Elsie and Robert T.
A Visitation will begin at 10AM, followed by a memorial service at 11AM on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St, Millersville, PA 17551. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gladys’s memory may be made to the Penn Manor School District Athletic Dept., Attn: Jeff Roth, 100 E. Cottage Ave., Millersville, PA 17551, Checks made payable to: Penn Manor High School.
