Gladys A. “Mom” Kirchner, 86
Gladys A. Kirchner “Mom”, 86, formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. Born in Willow Street, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Viola Henry Bechtold.
A waitress for 65 years, Mom worked at Red Rose Restaurant and Dempsey’s. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and yard work, flowers, decorating for the Holidays, camping, coloring books and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Methodist Faith.
Gladys’s family includes six children, Darlene, wife of Joseph DeVerter, Mount Joy, Suzanne Bollinger, Shippensburg, Steven Kirchner, Lancaster, Margaret Kirchner, Weatherly, Thomas, husband of Tonya Stover Kirchner, Lancaster, and Theresa, wife of Michael Koch, Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson and four siblings. Gladys was preceded in death by two siblings and her grandson Joseph S. DeVerter.
The Funeral will take place 11 AM, Thursday, April 12, 2012, with The Rev. Kenneth R. Higginbotham officiating, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. A viewing will be held 10-11 AM on Thursday. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, 3026 Mount Hope Home Road, Manheim, PA 17545.
