Geraldine Mary Griffith, 95
August 16, 1928 - April 19, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Geraldine Mary Griffith, a woman of great fortitude and dedication. She was born August 16, 1928, in Penn Township, PA, on the family farm known to many as Sego Sago, to the late Harry S. and Ella Mae Lefever. Geraldine peacefully departed from this world on April 19, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family at Moravian Manor.
Geraldine was a cherished member of the community and a devoted mother to her children, Dr. Peggy Montgomery, R. Michael Griffith, and Janette Dennis. She instilled in them a strong work ethic that they carry with them proudly. After graduating from Manheim Township High School in 1946, she pursued a career in nursing, earning her Associate’s Degree and practicing as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated over 20 years to Dr. Hess, Swan & Holder, now known as Lititz Family Health.
Amid her training, she met and fell in love with Robert J. “Bob” Griffith. They married October 14, 1950, and would go on to celebrate over 64 years of marriage until his passing in March of 2015.
Throughout her life, Geraldine displayed a remarkable sense of selflessness and generosity, contributing significantly to her community as a notary for numerous years. Her commitment to service extended to lending her skills to businesses like the Manheim Auto Auction and Garden Spot Auto Auction. She also played an active role in assisting her husband with the day-to-day operations of Lititz Service Center and Griffith Auto Sales.
Geraldine was known for her love of playing pinochle and her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. An exemplar of kindness and compassion, her presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cherished memories of Geraldine will live on in her children, Dr. Peggy Montgomery, wife of Robert of Mt. Joy, R. Michael Griffith, companion of Lori Glick of Perry County, and Janette Dennis, wife of Dr. Lee Dennis of Dover, DE; grandchildren, Nichole Boyer (Mark), Melissa Woolfolk (Chris), Eric Griffith, and Megan Griffith (Abby Siverling Griffith); and great grandchildren, Madison, Elle, Caden, Dylan, and Macy. Very sad to hear that Aunt Gerry has passed. My mother Pauline and Gerry loved each other very much and was touching to see two siblings enjoy each other immensely. Aunt Gerry was always kind and thoughtful. She was truly a wonderful and warm hearted woman. Sincere condolences to Peggy, Mike and Janette.
