I was truly sadened to hear of Jerry’s passing.  He was really a good friend.  In the summer of 1969, Jerry hired me as assistant registrar.  Then twenty years followed during which time we becme good working partners as well as good personal friends.  Over the years we went for many mid morning coffee breaks and numerous meetings with the rest of the academic affairs staff.  He was a huge support to me as I advanced in my work position and advanced education.  This was one of Jerry’s personal characteristics.  There were a number of clerks, secretaries, and students workers in the Registrar’s office.  Jerry seemed to get pleasure out of helping all of these people secure advancemnt.  Sometimes this was at a cost to his own personal advancement.  Thank you, Jerry.

I was totally shocked and surprised by the passing of an excellent educator: Mr. Gerald W. Burkhardt. He helped me with my graduation requirements while I was in the process of graduating from Millersville University. I met him when I registered for class in the fall of 1971 and thereafter. He was always so helpful to me. I was a returning Vietnam Veteran and he was so respectful of my service. If I had any issues, he always  helped me with them and set me on the path to graduate from the University. To the family and Friends, he will be missed and I am hopeful I will be able to converse with him in Heaven. God Bless you Mr. Burkhardt. You have always been a faithful servant for Jesus and God.
