Gerald L. “Jerry” Gerhart, 73

March 27, 1947 - January 19, 2021

Gerald L. Gerhart, 73, of Ephrata, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, following a brief illness. Born in York, PA, he was the son of the late Sherman L. and Vera (Snyder) Gerhart.

Jerry worked for Armstrong Flooring in Lancaster, retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service. Always an active and outgoing person, he was an avid bowler and golfer and loved traveling, especially to the beach. He was a dedicated Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Jerry attended LCBC Church – Manheim Campus where he actively volunteered his time. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

A loving father and grandfather, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Stacey Freet and her husband Chris of Willow Street, and Kimberly Hohenadel and her husband John of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Emma and Ana Freet, and Ryan and Evan Hohenadel. Jerry is also survived by his fiancée, Sharyn Kreider of Ephrata, and three brothers, Ronald Gerhart, Donald Gerhart (Betty), both of York, and David Gerhart (Becky) of Columbia.

Services will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, 17543. The family will receive guests from 4:00-5:30 PM, followed by a Service of Remembrance at 5:30 PM. In lieu of the flowers, contributions in Jerry’s memory may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

Jerry was a wonderful brother to me. He always looked on the best side of everyone and everything . I remember the phone conversations on how proud he was of his daughters and grandchildren . I remember how happy and in love he was with Sharyn. I remember how he would tell me about his golfing and bowling conquests , always happy about anything and everything. Never complaining . Some time I hope we can meet and I can tell him how much I loved him. Always remembering and thinking of him. Brother Donnie

Jerry was a good friend, neighbor, and my golf buddy. I will always remember gathering with the guys at the Crest clubhouse for coffee, and conversations. I was looking forward to the day when Jerry could visit us in North Carolina. My condolences to the family.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Uncle Jerry in my younger years.  Always quick with a joke and a smile and put all around him at ease. I will remember him as a gentle man with a kind heart and loving spirit who seemed to overcome his challenges with positivity and faith.  Thinking of Sharyn, Stacey and Kim and their families during this difficult time.

Words cannot express my sorrow.  I was blessed to have shared some wonderful moments with Jerry.  He will be deeply missed but remembered with love and will remain in our hearts forever. What a joy he was to be around. God be with you, Jerry.  You will be anothe angel to watch over us.  Prepare a place for us until we meet again…

Our sincere sympathy to Kim and Stacy and those family members we do not know, especially Jerry’s grandchildren.  Our sympathy to Jerry’s fiancee as well.  We remember Jerry’s laugh and think of him fondly–good memories.  Former neighbors from years ago.

Jerry was my cousin, son of my father Jack’s older brother Les. Nancy and I will miss Jerry’s friendliness and his infectious laugh–he was one of the good guys. All our best to Stacy and Kimmy and their families. Our thoughts are with you.

I didn’t know if he spelled his name with a G or J.  I do know that Gerry was the kindest person I knew, and lived a testamony that honored The Lord.  You could see it in the way he treated people with respect. As a neighbor, it was comforting that he lived nearby. He was gentle, compassionate, and generous.  He gave pizza to the hungry.  I am sure that he heard the Saviour say “enter in thy good and faithful servant.”  My deepest sympathies to his family that I did not meet, and Sharyn, one who Gerry was very happy about.

What an awesome man from an awesome family.  I hold closely some very fond memories with him.  Gerry left his mark and everyone that knew him was better for it. I’m so happy I was fortunate to be one of those lucky people.  My love to the family.

I first met Jerry through the golf trips to Virginia and have known him for about 30 years.  I got to spend some brief moments with him in the hospital before he passed and was grateful that his two daughters were willing to give up some of their time so I could visit with him.  I will miss seeing  him each week at the bowling alley.  He was a very nice person and because he was a believer I will be able to see him again some day.  Rest In Peace, no more pain or suffering.

We are so sad to hear of Jerry’s passing he was a neighbor first, then a golfing friend (great times in Virginia), and all in all just a great friend to both of us. We will miss him but we will always remember his humor and friendship

Although I never met Jerry in person, I felt I knew him through his fiancee, Sharyn. He sounded like such a warm and loving person. I know he will be missed by Sharyn and his family and am sending my condolences to all of them.
