His daughter, Tracy was born in 1966 followed by his son Gregory in 1969. He pursued and received his MS degree in Chemistry from Franklin and Marshall College in 1969 at night with two small children at home.

George put his chemistry degrees to work for Armstrong World Industries as a Chemist R&D 1963-1969; Supervising Chemist Floor Plant; Facilitator for Quality of Work Life Program (Industrial Relations, Floor Plant) and Chief Inspector Rotogravure Operations for the twist-off bottle cap, no wax vinyl floor and parental closure. I met George through tennis a few years ago and could not help but becoming friends.  The tennis association was nice, but I enjoyed even more our conversations off the court at Lancaster Tennis and Yacht.  Such an intersting person with so many life experiences.  I will truly miss George as I am sure so many others will.  My condolences to Tracy and all other members of his family..

I met George a couple of months ago on the tennis court as partners on Friday night doubles at RCW. Even though I only knew him for this short time, he was a true gentleman in every way and always had a smile on his face. I will miss seeing him and hearing his life stories very much on and off the tennis court. George truly made everyone around him a better person and inspired us to live each day to the fullest. I have no doubt George is in Heaven right now either on a tennis court or drinking port wine. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time following his sudden loss. -Mark Gales

Our sincerest condolences to George’s family. George was a great personal friend for over 45 years. We spent much of that time playing and talking tennis at the Manheim Tennis Club and Racquet Club West.  Everyone who had the privilege of knowing George liked and respected him, and he will be dearly missed by his many friends in the tennis community…. My condolences to the entire Adams family.  George and I were classmates at Lancaster Catholic and Quirk Hall roomates and chemistry majors for four years at St. Joseph’s College.  Herc(George) became a Quirk Hall legend and was admired and respected by all the Quirkers.  I always looked forward to our Catholic High reunions to reconnect with George.  I am certain that George has found a safe lodging, a holy rest and peace at last.  Mike Frank

George and I were frequently paired as partners on a mixed doubles team at RCW.  He was always supportive and kind with his comments on the court.  Smiling came easy to him.  I last saw him on the dance floor at LTYC, and he was wearing that smile.  Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

I had the great pleasure of knowing George for almost 20 years. We played together in the Friday night RCW doubles group. He was a first class gentleman and a wonderful tennis player. The world is a little less kind without him in it. To his family, my thoughts are with you. He had so many friends and admirers in the tennis community.  – Cher

Uncle George, you may not have technically been my uncle, but in many ways you were like a second dad. I will never forget your beautiful smile and encouraging words always. Thank you for being the best friend a girl’s dad could ever have. 🤗 I love you and will miss you dearly – our whole family will.
Tracy and Gregory (and your families) this loss must feel like a bottomless pit right now, but I am sure knowing he has been reunited with your mom brings some comfort. I send my love and so many hugs. You have been in my prayers and will be. Thank you for sharing your dear father with the world as he was such a ray of sunshine to so many!

My dad, George Allen, was George’s “nephew”, although he is actually older than George. I only met George a couple times (I remeber him as a very funny guy who loved music), but heard lots of great stories. Our condolences to Aunt Georgia and your family. You will be in our hearts and prayers. Sharon Resh Forni

I had the great honor to work with George and asked him to join our QWLI team at Armstrong’s. Your obit is a wonderful description of how I knew him. He was funny, honest, and honorable in all his relationships. That is why I wanted him in the key role while we started up the new program. I now live in Montana, but you all will be in my prayers.

George was a great man to all  and a great friend. He will be missed by his family and friends who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

To Tracy, Greg and George’s grandchildren; please know that you have my sympathies and that your Dad and grandfather will be remembered in my prayers.
It was only about a month ago that I was speaking to George on the phone about all that was important to him: his family, tennis and others who were important to him. I came to know George when I was pastor of OMPH Church in Ephrata through Georgia and Leo Emig at the time.
Through his conversations, George made it clear to me how much he loved Tracy and Greg and their children, and how he enjoyed being with them. They were always on his mind. I always felt he was kind of a ‘rock’ for his sister Georgia in recent years and he will certainly be missed by them. George’s sense of humor was something that I will never forget; when I think of George, my first response is a smile. In speaking with him, there would be ‘the look’ and then he would proceed with a very funny line.
It’s a sign of a well-integrated person when someone can be a kind of stabilizing influence among friends and family, while at the same time have a wonderful sense of humor. I feel that George was not only well-integrated, but also a person of integrity. In his dealings with people, he always seemed to be looking for a fair outcome…never going out of his way to treat someone dismissively.
My prayers are with all of you at this time and I personally am thanking the Lord for the friendshp that I had with George.
