George H. Schneider Jr., 55
June 16, 2024
George H. Schneider Jr., 55, of York passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his home. Born in New Kensington, he was the beloved son of George H. Sr. and Carol Jean Schultz Schneider. George was the loving husband of Deborah Braungard Schneider. A graduate of New Kensington High School, he later obtained his master’s degree from Towson University and chose to work in the field of cyber security. George had a deep appreciation of the outdoors. He could be found mountain biking, hunting, fishing during his free time. A ski instructor, he also had a love for warm weather and would travel south to Florida with his wife Deb. A jack of all trades, George could learn how to fix just about anything. More than anything he was a thoughtful and caring person who loved nothing more than to spend time with his cherished grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents, are our stepchildren, Angela, Amy, Jesse, Kaitlyn, eleven grandchildren, two brothers, Tim husband of Beth Schneider, Dave husband of Jen Schneider, his sister-in-law, Kristi Schneider, as well as numerous nieces, nephews. Preceding him in death was his younger brother, Michael Schneider.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Greenwood Memorial Park, Burrall Hills. Those desiring may send contributions in George’s name to American Diabetes Association, https://diabetes.org/ or to Building Bridges for Briana, https://bb4bpa.org/.

Deeply sorry to hear about George’s unexpected passing. I worked with Georege on various projects and it was always a pleasure speaking with him. He was passionate & proud of his work, both in current & previous roles. More so, we often got off topic to non-work related things: family, grandchildren, beaming with joy talking about taking “his wife to her favorite place” (Florida). Sending heartfelt love & condolences to his family/friends during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by George’s passing. Over the past year, he reported to me as our Supervisor of Information Security at Shentel, and in that time, he became much more than just a colleague; he became a friend. George’s vast knowledge in our field was matched by his incredible empathy and wonderful sense of humor. He was always generous with his time, wisdom, and spirit, touching the lives of everyone he interacted with.
I have many fond memories of our conversations, not just about work, but also about the joys in his life. George often spoke lovingly of the good times he had with his grandchildren, Cade and Colton. It was evident how much he adored them and how deeply he valued those moments.
George’s warmth, kindness, and dedication made a lasting impact on all of us. We already miss him, and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
May his memory be a comfort to all who knew him.
