Geneva M. Rudy, 95

June 19, 2013

Geneva M. Rudy, 95, formerly of Bausman, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community where she resided for the past 4 years. She was born in Lancaster to the late George and Clara (Searle) Flick and was the wife of the late Frederick M. Rudy who passed away in 1988.

Born on October 19, 1917, she was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lancaster where she was a member of the Mother’s Club and later the Golden Hills Club. She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1935.  Until starting her family, she worked for many years as a machine operator at the Hamilton Watch Company and then as a waitress at the Hotel Brunswick in Lancaster and a clerk at the Mailmans Department store.

In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing pinochle with her monthly card club.  She also loved to travel and went on many bus trips with her sister and friends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and attending many of her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by her son George J, husband of Marianne T Rudy of Lancaster; three grandchildren: James R, David J and Joseph M Rudy; and one sister, Louise, wife of John Sabinash of Mountville.

Her family would like to express their everlasting gratitude to everyone at St Anne’s Retirement Community for the loving, compassionate care that they gave to her and them for these past years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11 AM with Msgr. Thomas Smith as Celebrant and Father John McLoughlin as Concelebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with the Rosary at 7:45 pm, and again at the church on Wednesday one hour before the mass.

Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances may be made in Geneva’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church at the address above or to St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA  17512.

Condolences to the Family

Dear George, Maryianne and Family:

We send you are heartfelt prayers at this hour of sadness.  It is never easy to say goodbye to one so dear and precious to us.  Yet, faith sustains us in  knowing Mom is at eternal peace in heaven with the Lord at her side. It is from these very heavens she will watch you and your family today and all tomorrows.  Her presence will never abandon you and her love will forever be with you.

Your mom was wonderful person and wherever she traveled she opened her heart to others. She was passionate about her family and always held you ever so close to her heart.  During her years on this earth she taught us many lessons about life, love, faith, endurance, happiness, and simplicity.  She left us each a legacy of faith to carry with us on our journeys in life.  She will forever be remembered in our prayers, hearts, and thoughts as a very loving and special Mom, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt.

In the days ahead may you be comforted by the Holy Spirit in knowing and trusting Mom is now at rest with the Lord, her eternal home of peace and joy.
