Fred A. Iamurri

Fred A. Iamurri, age 78 of  Lititz, PA died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long illness. He was born on December 28, 1929, in Parkesburg, PA to the late Albert and Angelina Piccolo Iamurri. Fred graduated from Scott Senior High School in Coatesville in 1947. On November, 27 1950 he was united in marriage to Elsie K. Mc Inerney in Coatesville, PA.

Mr. Iamurri graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, Philadelphia, PA in 1953 and was licensed as a pharmacist by the State of Pennsylvania that same year. In 1954, Fred and Elsie moved to Lancaster, PA where he started practicing pharmacy at Longneckers Drug Store.  Fred’s dream of having his own pharmacy was realized in 1960 when he opened the Neffsville Pharmacy in Neffsville,PA. He owned and operated the pharmacy for 35 years and continued to work after retirement.

His life long dedication to the pharmacy profession included many years of service to the Lancaster County Pharmaceutical Association as a member, board member and president. Fred’s highest honor was his appointment to the PA State Board of Pharmacy by the Governor Richard Thornburgh on January 1, 1981. There he served as a board member for five years and chairman for one year. Fred was an avid golfer, card player and sports enthusiast. In later years he enjoyed traveling and tending his flower garden.

Fred was a member of the Lancaster Elks No. 134. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elsie, his daughter and her husband, Gail and Declan Caulfield of Lancaster, his daughters, Melanie Iamurri of Lancaster,and Gloria Husted of Lititz, his daughter and her husband Jill and Douglas Cisney of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Meeghan Bustaque of Philadelphia, Tyler Kauffman of Millersville, Erin Bustaque, Melanie Cisney, Hunter Kauffman, Mark Cisney all of Lancaster,Brianna and Jessica Husted of Lititz; three great-grandchildren, Tatiana, Dominic and Patrick Kauffman of Millersville; one brother, John Iamurri of Naples FL.,one sister, Mary Novak of Coatesville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Freddy Bustaque and one brother, Albert Iamurri.

A viewing will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc. 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, 560-5100 on Friday, May 23rd,2008 from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 East Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at 10AM with Fr. Paul Oye as Celebrant. There will be a viewing at the church from 9AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. Memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s memory to Hospice of Lancaster County 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or to the charity of your choice. We would like to thank the staff of Special Care and Hospice of Lancaster County for their help and support.

Words are so few at this time , but much sympathy to Elsie, her girls and all the rest of the family. Fred was a wonderful boss for so many years to me as I was employed by Neffsville Pharmacy. He will be remembered with deepest respect and love.

Hi Elsie,

Ralph read on the computer of Fred’s passing. I just wanted to send our love and deepest sympathy. I’m sure God will be near you and help you with this adjustment into a new chapter of your life.

So glad you have lots of family to be near you. They are such a blessing.

Ralph and I are fine. We live in Elkton, Maryland with our oldest daughter, Laura and her husband Joe. We have four children, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and another on the way any day now.
